Contacted in June 2009 by associates of Linda Randall, TJRandallGroup, to advertise in a book titled Makeup Artist's Who's Who which was scheduled to launch in Fall of 2009. The scheduled launch of the book was planned around a gala event set to take place on October 24, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and was to benefit Cancer Schmancer. 100% of proceeds of ticket sales were to be donated to Cancer Schmancer.
I signed a contract in June of 2009, which stated the book was to be published in Fall of 2009, and paid the sum of $500 for a 2 pages in the book Makeup Artists Who's Who. Per my contract I was promised a press release announcing my involvement with the book which I never received. Received notice on Oct 9, 2009 stating the book was delayed and to be launched in Jan 2010. Received notice on October 21, 2009 the gala which was organized to now promote the book instead of celebrate the launch of the book had been cancelled thus canceling on Cancer Schmancer.
Sent an email to Linda Randall and associates on October 21, 2009 requesting a release from my contract, which did not officially hold any funds until the book went to publishing, and a refund in full.
As of October 23, 2009, I have not received a refund but the group claims they are processing the refund. I paid through PayPal to their PayPal which provides a simple refund transaction option.
Received an email from Cancer Schmancer on Friday, Oct 23, 2009 stating "due to unforeseen circumstances, Cancer Schmancer is no longer part of the book or book launch."

Makeup Artists Who's Who Was To Be Published in May of 2009

According to my original report, my contract stated the book was to be published in Fall of 2009. I found a press release dated June 21, 2008 stating the book Makeup Artists Who's Who by Linda Randall was to be published in May of 2009. The author of the press release is recorded as Linda Randall.

I have a screen capture saved in the case Ms. Randall and associates delete the page.
It's not a case of a simple 2 month delay. This is a case of Linda Randall making promises for YEARS that were not followed through with.
And, yes, this was a rip-off because I was promised an ad in a book with a publishing date that has been pushed back, now on more than one occasion. I was promised sales from the book would support two charities: Stand Up 2 Cancer and Cancer Schmancer. In reference to my contract and these intentions, Ms. Randall did not follow through with her promises. In addition, my time put into gathering data for my ad and sent to their design team is now wasted. Thankfully I did receive my refund as noted in an update to the original report.
Unfortunately Ms. Randall has brought this backlash upon herself by making false intentions and promises.

While I can understand how someone can interpret every story one way or another, I have to ask...why do some people choose to twist things into much more dramatic tales than necessary? So what is Linda pushed her book release date by 2 months. Seriously? That's a RIP OFF? Publishers do that kind of stuff based on market research all the time, so give us all a break and stop complaining.
