Marie and Mario Simoes of M & M Huskies are what you would call a Back Yard Breed or a BYB.

Byb's breed for profit and profit alone. They "claim" to love the breed. If you love a breed of dog wouldn't you want to better it, not ruin it and do everything possible to make sure that happens?

M & M's huskies are NOT up to breed standard regardless of being AKC. Yes, you can have a dog that is not up to standard that has papers. They are also NOT health certified. Two of the puppies from their first litter are requiring surgery already at age 2. Weather it was a gene brought on by the mother or the father? We'll never know because they were never tested. The father is still in their possession and is the only stud.

A Reputable breeder does NOT have an Oops litter and if they do they take responsibility for it. A reputable breeder is prepared to face ALL obstacles they might incur while breeding regardless of cost. That is the choice they made when deciding to breed.

Along with surrendering 8 sick puppies, they also surrendered the Mother, which was their dog. Why wouldn't they have kept the mother, had her spayed and treated? Oh, because she could no longer produce puppies! She was NOT required to be surrendered with the puppies.

A reputable breeder who is concerned about their dog's health would take their dog to a second vet for a second opinion.

Even after putting their family through such a HORRIFIC experience, they have been approached by experts with YEARS of experience with the breed and have chose to ignore the help and attempts to educate. They have since inquired another b itch that was also bred at an inappropriate age that is ALSO not up to standard.

A reputable breeder knows where their puppies are going and staying. They require them to be returned to themselves if they can no longer be cared for. The Simoes have no idea where the puppies end up.

They do not educate buyers on the breed for fear they will not be sold. A reputable breeder sells with a spay/neuter contract. Do NOT buy from this breeder, the offspring WILL have health problems in the future and they WILL NOT take responsibility for them.

These ARE all facts and ARE all straight.

rebuttal to critique of Mario and Marie Simoes Husky Treasures

AUTHOR: JayF - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, August 14, 2009

As the owners and family of a pup from one of Marie and Mario Simoes litters, my wife and I take offense at the way in which you chose to voice your accusations which you call fact.  First and foremost, our dog is by no means substandard.  As a rescue association you should know that every dog is special and certainly deserves more than to be called substandard by you.  Perhaps you are a substandard human being?  Our dog is the kindest and most fun loving dog Ive ever had the pleasure of being around.  Her name is Nika and she was raised with love by the Simoes and their son until she was 8 weeks old.

We located Mario and Marie on the net using a breeders website.  I emailed their website and within an hour had a response and a request to talk in person over the phone.  The purpose of the phone call which lasted nearly an hour was to get to know me and the reasons I was looking for a husky.  We discussed everything from the kind of care the breed needs to its personality traits.  And this IS a fact.  During this conversation I could tell Marie was genuinely interested in what kind of home the pup would be going to.  We cant speak for others but in our case, the Simoes know exactly where Nika is and what kind of home she has.  During the time between our first contact and when we drove to Cleveland from Philadelphia to pick up our dog, we spoke numerous times over the phone and through email and the Simoes were always open to any question my wife or I had to ask.  We were sent pictures of Nika at least on a weekly basis.  The Simoes also require that you pick up your puppy in person, which I find is certainly NOT an indication of someone breeding dogs just for the money but as an indication of someone who truly cares about the puppy.

When we arrived to pick Nika up we were welcomed into their home to meet Koda and Cookie, the father and mother.  An entire room of their house is dedicated to the puppies.  It is also a sterile environment meaning that outsiders are not allowed to step into the puppy room or handle puppies due to the risk of transmission of disease prior to receiving their full vaccination regimens.  The Simoes were also up front about what happened to their first litter and when she told us the story in person, it was evident that she and her husband care immensely for these dogs.  So, in our opinion the Simoes took full responsibility for what happened to their first litter and their actions were consistent with what they believe was in the best interest of the dogs.  You cant ask any more than that from someone.  To the person who wrote the critiqueYour facts as you call them are littered with so many inconsistencies which are contrary to everything weve experienced with the Simoes which leads us to believe this is a personal vendetta.

Nika is now nearly 8 months old and she has been an absolute pleasure.  We cant go for a walk in the park without being stopped numerous times by people telling us how beautiful she is.  Nika is GREAT with kids, has been completely healthy, and is full of happiness and affection for us.  She is an all around wonderful dog and is one of the family.
