Marketplace Homes did what they said they would do: they made it possible for us to purchase a larger home by renting our current condo. The problem is that we were told our home was being rented to a sweet little old lady, but this is not the case. Our beautiful condo is literally being destroyed by the sweet little old lady's grandson, his girlfriend, and their two pit bulls. Said lady does not live in the condo, but is only the name on the lease...which in itself is alarming. We were never contacted by Marketplace Homes prior to the lease agreement to set lease restrictions, such as pet or smoker limitations. Since these tenants have moved into our home, we have received complaint after complaint from the neighbors and have already gotten "hate mail" from the Condo Association. I have asked Marketplace Homes repeatedly for a copy of the lease agreement to help me understand the tenant/landlord responsibilities, and Marketplace Homes has been unresponsive. While this company did help us move into a bigger home, we ... they would do: they made it possible for us to purchase a larger home by renting our current condo. I have asked Marketplace Homes repeatedly for a copy of the lease agreement to help me understand the tenant/landlord responsibilities, and Marketplace Homes has been unresponsive. While this company did help us move into a bigger home, we do not have any peace of mind whatsoever. Our condo is being held hostage and Marketplace Homes does nothing other than collect the rent (definitely not the worry-free experience we were promised). There is no property manger overseeing the terms of the lease are met or ensuring the property is maintained. Marketplace Homes acts in its own best interest, which is to rent your home to ANYONE, including criminals. Meanwhile, my neighbors are being chased by unleashed pit bulls; my condo is being destroyed by high-risk tenants; and Marketplace Homes turns a blind eye. We have since resorted to contacting the Better Business Bureau and filed a Consumer Fraud Complaint with the Attorney General's office. To be clear: Marketplace Homes can be a great option, but it comes at the expense of your peace-of-mind. Buyer beware....and get a really good lawyer.

Don't be upset at the insurance company if your home floods... file a claim.

I started this company out of my basement and grown it into 20 states and helped hondreds of homeowners move to new homes.  I am passionate about changing the way that people move and making moving fun and less stressful.  The reason that people use our company is that unlike any other, we guarantee rent and cover most expenses.  What this means is that even if a tenant doesn't pay rent we do!  If the tenant causes damages we pick it up.  That is the case here!

This tenant actually pays us hundreds less then what we guarantee the owner, but we have never missed a full payment per our agreement.  In the event that damage happens in the property, we are there to help and have always returned all our properties in the same condition received.  This is far different from any other management company that would leave the owner on the hook.  Truly, the owners are in much better shape by working with our company then without.

Is it possible that a tenant isn't perfect, you bet!  That's why people hire us and also why the owner, Michael and Christina Dibble, are protected in this particular case.  They have us exactly for the off chance that a tenant isn't perfect.

The Dibble's complaint is similar to buying insurance for a flood and then being upset at the insurance company when the home floods, even when the insurance company covers every thing they say they will.  We are a company that helps in the off chance that a tenant isn't perfect.  That's why we are in business and that is exactly what we have done to help this homeowner.  Would you rather rent on your own or have our team on your side to help?

Less than 24 hours after I posted my comment, the owner of Marketplace Homes contacted my husband to address our concerns and offer solutions. Marketplace Homes maintains they were misled by the tenants, and it is my hope that we create extra layers of protection to prevent fraud as we move forward. We look forward to rescuing our relationship with Marketplace Homes and continue our partnership.

To be clear, we are happy in our new home and Marketplace Homes has been on-time with the rent payments.
