I have always thought that Marriott had outstanding service until I stumble upon an incident that happened at the Marriott Sawgrass Resort in Ponte Vedra Florida this past weekend. My family and I were having a great time until the second day of my stay something happened that was out of our hands and we were mistreated and discriminated. I took my son and wife to play a game of golf, it was fun because the hole is in the middle of the pond, I thought it was a great idea for family to have a great time. We talked to the young gentleman at the cabana for us to play. Bystanders (other families) started to come closer to watch, at this point my son's turn, swings and club slips out of his hands and hits a person near by. At this point my family went up to that family and try to apologize for the accident, the person from the other family understood because it was obvious that it was an accident from a six year old. They decide to go inside and speak with management and tells them I don't know what. All of the sudden we were cut off from bar because of assumptions of intoxication. The Trip went downhill from here, we were not treated accordingly, I went to from desk and demanded a reason why they said there was people that were intoxicated and that is all they had to say, I explained the situation and they did not care anything I had to say towards it. I told them I wanted my money back we had spent at the cabana because now, not only we were accused of being drunk but we felt like we were being discriminated against, the manager at this point comes and tells me the same thing. We should either go to room or leave the premises. I stated I will leave but I want my money back from the cabana since the whole circumstance was out of proportion and it had ruined our stay. My son and wife were crying specially because my son felt like he was at fault and in reality it was just an accident. They went on in calling the police and try to scare us with higher authority. There was no reason for cops to be there, no one raised their voice we were just discussing the situation that bacame a serious matter. Accusations, unprofessionalism, humiliation, type casted, trauma to my son, all of these were present and Marriott cannot apologize for how were treated in front of so many people. The Director of operations Brad Woods could not even step out in front of the checking desk to discuss the matter in private and rationalize the situation, he was not concerned towards the matter at all, only to the other family with the person that got hit. If only the young man that was supervising the golf area was present or even told other bystanders to not be there to take any precautions, non of this would have happened. Instead we had to leave hotel after because of their negligence. So far I have contacted Mr. Marriott's office, spoken with Line Kanoli about the humiliating event, to ask for an apology of the circumstance and money back from that cabana because of how unsatisfied we were of how everything was handled, and they have done nothing to change our mind about that event. I have never gone so far to speak and discuss to an establishment on how unfairly we were treated, I am not that kind of person that tries to manipulate systems, but a person that cares about family. They are not what they seem they are, they do not care about family they just want your money. That is not a place where I want to stay ever again. I want everyone that stays in a Marriott to at least acknowledge this experience because it hurt my family and I, and they do not care about the feelings of guest they only care about the money we bring.
