I unloaded freight at different consignee's on several diffrent occassions and received the lumper fee for each trailer I unloaded...On one occasion I recalled, payroll asked for a receipt for freight I unloaded, which I could not find the original, so I faxed a copy of a receipt I had in my truck...when that receipt went thru, and one day talking to my dispatch, I ask is it ok for us to unload and receive monies if we turned in a a receipt as though we was the lumper...In no uncertain terms he said, " we do not pay drivers the lumper fee, however u can unload the truck yourself, but marten will only pay you 3 cents per box...so with that I unloaded approximately several trucks loads and turned in receipt...

I'm concerned over wording marten transport used in describing what happened in dac record...marten said I altered receipts, and basically took monies from the company..If this was the case , at no time did marten ever take any money out of checks that I was to receive, and never did marten say I owed them any monies...I would like for wording to be revised as to what really happened, which is I lumped the assigned truck and privided a receit for what the inside lumper company said they get for doing whatever load I did ...thanks for responding and receiving this rebuttal letter ...

NEVER LOAD OR UNLOAD YOUR TRAILER

AUTHOR: Sooners - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 20, 2009

Daniel NEVER LOAD OR UNLOAD YOUR TRAILER-these companies have contracts with the different shippers and in that contract lumper fees are included with the rate on the freight. The shipper knows exactly how much it cost at recievers and they either include it in the freight rate or the trucking company bills them for the lumper service. YES Marten will pay you the cheapest rate .03 per bx and the lumper service may charge Marten $300.00 to load or unload that freight. If Marten pays you say $50.00 then Marten will make a $250.00 profit off your hard labor-cause they will get the full $300.00 and they will just pay you $50.00. So let the in house lumpers load or unload the trailer no matter what they charge. And if you still work for Marten if the load doesnt have legal time for you do run the load legal on MACRO 32 in the spaces where it ask you if you can make ontime del put "N" and in the comment section state you dont have the hours available to make on time del. At the bottom of Macro 32 where it ask you if you take full responsibility of the load put "N". Thats not refusing the load thats Macro 47 refusing the load-that infomation in Macro 32 is just telling them that you cant do the load LEGALLY.Put the monkey on their backs-if needed call safety.Take care

Oldest (and illegal) trick in the industry

AUTHOR: Deborah - (U.S.A.)

Let me see if I have this correct.

Loading and unloading policies are covered in your driver manual, as well as during orientation. So are driver unloading policies, particularly the part about how they don't want drivers to unload.

Marten pays drivers who unload a set rate of 3 cents per case or $12.00 per hour. Most fleet managers will pay the driver whichever works out to the higher rate, but it will never be on par with what the lumper service is paid (the lumpers themselves average less than what Marten pays the drivers).

Not liking this policy, you went inside and asked the lumper service what they charge. You then charged that amount to Marten, made up a phony receipt (probably used your own name on them), and then submitted the receipts as if you were the lumper service.

You then turned around and, after having run this scam for a while, told your fleet manager (read immediate supervisor) what you were doing.

Now you want Marten Transport to remove this crime from your DAC/USIS report? You're lucky they didn't prosecute you or file suit (they should have).

The lumper service charges significantly more to Marten than what Marten pays drivers for several reasons. First, they have to pay the lumpers in their employ. They must also pay federal and state employer taxes, as well as unemployment insurance premiums. They must also pay Workman's Compensation insurance. Then there is the liability insurance, they have to be bonded, hiring costs, etc. Marten has to pay these things as well, which is why you get so much less (as does the person who actually unloaded your trailer if you use the lumper service).

Second, Marten doesn't want drivers unloading. They want you resting so you will be ready for the next load. They don't make any money while the truck sits in the dock waiting to be loaded or unloaded, and without your scam neither would you. They also do not want you getting hurt, which would also effect your availability and have you sitting even longer.

I sure hope you remember to report the monies paid you by Marten on your taxes, because you can be sure Marten has reported that money as an expense, complete with your social security number. Fail to report it and you could be charged with tax evasion.

First time ever I've seen a scam reported by the scammer for the whole world to see on RipOffReport.com! Just when you think you've seen it all, lol.
