I signed up for a 1-year membership with Massage Envy one year ago. I wanted to cancel my membership in October 2014, as it was up in November 2014.  There is no ability to cancel online or by phone. You must go into the Massage Envy where you signed up to fill out a cancellation form. During that time, the receptionist demands to know why you are cancelling and tries to hard sell. You must also state why you want to cancel on the form and "rate" their business in five areas just to cancel.

You must cancel 30 days prior (I did not see this anywhere in literature or online). My October cancellation means that I will still have to pay a November fee membership, even though the membership should have expired on November 1st! 

You must put your phone number on the cancellation form so a manager can call you to push you to sign up again. I will not answer that call.

The business model sucks:

1. No ability to cancel online or by phone upon expiration of a one-year membership. You must enter a store in person.

2. 30 day cancellation rule (or you are charged) even if the term of membership is up. 

3. Being charged after the term of membership (one year) is up. 

4. Excessive cancellation questions on the form

5. Having to be grilled by receptionist and provide your phone number for the manager to grill you when you simply do not want to renew a membership. 

I will not ever patronize a business with such a customer "unfriendly" business model.

I posted this as a CAUTION to those with a membership to Massage Envy, or those considering one.
