I have called the number left by the lady in Cedar Rapids twice.I also left my email address. I have had no response. As for the second rebuttal---If the Masterguard company isn't responsible for the independent contractors selling their product--Who is??? That's what I've heard for 15 yrs. Everyone trying to pass the buck!!!!! No the alarms did NOT save any lives. They were installed downstairs. I worked 3rd shift, ands was sleeping upstairs. 2 cats lost their lives--Kitchie and Mitzi. I also lost a puppy---Chucky. So how much is the loss of their lives and years I could have been with them?? I was guaranteed when I bought the alarms that I could call and in case of a fire--They would be replaced. Your company guaranteed the insurance. Never got a response!!!!!! Ths is a very bad situation. I don't have the money to file a lawsuit. If I did, I would ask for a lot more than the cost of the alarms and interest. What are my pets lives worth?? Thank-you.

not a scam it's a ripoff

AUTHOR: Rodney Ashby - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, February 25, 2012

Anyone with a computer can google masterguard fraud or scam and find plenty of info this. It's a ripoff. Why else would someone claim to have a cheap knockoff alarm installed alongside with a $4000 system They take you out to dinner. leading off with prayer. Then after dinner try and scare the hell out of you, like any trained preacher would. Then high pressure sale starts. I had to take matters into my own hands. to try and get my parents money back. During the beginning process of getting there money back. He told my mom about how bad I would feel if something bad happened to them. How guilty I'd feel. There really good, but they ain't that good. Do your homework and figure this out for yourselves. Call your local fire dept. get there input. And you'll find it to be a min. $2500 ripoff.

MasterGuard Believes This Complaint is a Hoax!

AUTHOR: Chris Roberts - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Since 1971, MasterGuard is responsible for saving thousands of lives and millions of dollars in property damage. There has never been a human life lost due to a failure of our products. In over 38 years of doing business, MasterGuard has devoted our very existence to handling any and all consumer inquiries. We have a nationwide network of independent dealers whom we contact with inquiries, reinstallations, relocations, activations and warranty claims.

Although our company has maintained a website at www.masterguard.com since the 1980's, we have never heard from this customer and we continue to place our toll free phone number of 877-453-3473 on this site with a request for this customer to contact us. We have not heard from her and do not expect that she exists. Due to the anonymity of this site, we cannot prove her existence. We show no record of her purchasing our high quality early warning fire detection products. It is our sincere hope that no family would read this false report and make a purchasing decision based on what seems to be a hoax. Fire safety is not a purchase to take lightly and should be a decision based on the facts. This report is at least, a consumer who does not desire a resolution.

I once again repeat my November 2008 request for this consumer to call me... at MasterGuard in Coppell, TX or email me at chris@masterguard.com.

Please Contact MasterGuard Corporation

AUTHOR: Chris Roberts - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Dear Patricia in Evansdale, Iowa

I am Vice-President of MasterGuard, L.P., which manufactures MasterGuard-branded smoke alarms, heat alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and other home safety products. I would write directly to you, except that I do not have your email or home address. This is the only way I know of trying to reach you.

It appears from your report that you sent an email to MasterGuardfirealarms.com. However, that is not our website. If you visit that web address, you will see that it is Under Construction, but we do not know who owns it. Our site is www.masterguard.com. You can find information on MasterGuard products there.

Not having received your email, we just recently learned of your distressing situation. I know it has been quite some time, but please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your loved pets.

MasterGuard, L.P. does not sell products directly to homeowners such as yourself. We sell our products to independent authorized MasterGuard dealers nationwide, who resell, install, and service them. The dealers are our customers. We really have no involvement in their day-to-day businesses. They market products that we make, but we could not and do not control their dealings with their customers. If a homeowner has an unresolved issue with her or his MasterGuard dealer, we can and do help, but only if we learn about it.

Had we received your complaint in August 2007, we would have made sure that you received replacement alarms. If your dealer was no longer in business, we would have arranged for another dealer to deliver and install replacements for you. Homeowners who have invested in our high-quality alarms are entitled to top quality, capable, prompt service. The authorized dealer who does not provide that service must account to us.

If you have not received replacement alarms, please email us through our website and provide contact information so that we can directly reach you and take care of your situation.

Chris Roberts, Vice-President
MasterGuard, L.P.

Finally-- A wonderful Response.

AUTHOR: Patricia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 30, 2007

I just read this reply. Thank-you for your concern. I can probably get info on the fire from the city, or the newspapers. I don't have the paperwork because it was lost in the fire. I'm not sure how to contact you, but will leave my email at the end.

I didn't mean to sound like they didn't work. They worked fine downstairs, but, yes being upstairs, we didn't hear them. I lost pets, but yes, some were hiding under a blanket on the couch. One of the dachshuinds lived to be 17 yrs. old.

The complaint is--They do cost quite a bit, and they were never replaced. I contacted the Master guard numbers we were given at the time, and never heard anything. We've even been to 2 dinner promotions, where they promised help, but never did.
As an independant contractor, In case of a fire, doesn't the company provide the replacement alarms???

One last thing. Over the years, I've heard people joke about burning down an old house, etc. I always tell them. Once you've been through a fire, it's not a joking matter. It's a horrible feeling, and it still bothers me to this day. I'll never forget it.

Again, The complaint is they were never replaced. My email is (((ROR removed because of security purposes)))Please contact me . Thank-you--Patty.

YOU LIVE TO TELL YOUR STORY, Masterguard Fire Safety Solutions

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Sorry for your losses. I am a MasterGuard Dealer in California. MasterGuard Corporate reserves the right to withdraw a dealership. Do you have the name of the fire safety adviser who installed your detectors. Somewhere on the paper work you would have the name of the person. Look on the warranty paper work. From your complaint I detected that at the time of the fire you lived in a two story house with fire detection at the first floor level.

It does sound as if you purchased PARTIAL PROTECTION. Otherwise you would have had fire detection throughout the house, otherwise known as FULL PROTECTION. Apparently the fire detectors did their job, you are here to talk about your losses. I'm no fireman, but I am a Property Fire Insurance Adjuster. It is known in the Fire Safety Industry that children and pets hide in a fire. It is most difficult to gather your family in the moment of a fire. That is why we promote Fire Drills in the home, people locator and pet locator stickers to assist the fire department in their rescue.

As for the local MasterGuard Dealer not providing repalcement of the detectors demaged or destroyed in the fire, I will assist you provided that you secure a copy of the fire report and describe the type of equipment that was installed in your home. You may wonder why a dealer in California would be willing to assist you? Well, my wife and I experienced a fire in our home, 1/30/07. It was electrical. The MasterGuard Smoke Detector sounded and alerted my wife to the fire under the kitchen sink. My wife called the fire department and commenced with fighting the fire with the fire extinguisher. I was 45 minutes away. I received the screaming call from my wife, "There's a fire in the kitchen and I can't get it out!" I could not drive fast enough... The MasterGuard 380T installed in the familyroom alerted my wife. The standard alarms that came with the house did not operate. I rest my case.

MasterGuard Fire Safety Solutions is a much need product and concept. We promote Fire Safety, Protecting the World, One Family at a Time. Thank you for listening. Please contact me for further assistance.
