Match Rip-off It is incredible how deceptive match is especially how they lie about closing the account. Dallas Texas

Match is incredibly deceiving. The monthly subscription is $39.99 a month. I wrote to them as early as 4/17/06 requesting to cancel my account. They wrote back follow these procedures to cancel it.

1. Go to www.match.com
2. Sign in with your username and password
3. Click on My Account at the top of the screen
4. Click on the Change / Cancel Membership link
Note: For security purposes you may be asked to re-enter your password.
5. Click on the Cancel your Subscription link
6. Select an option from the screen provided and click on Continue Cancellation
7. Once you see the screen which contains your confirmation code your subscription has been resigned.

I tried those steps and it didn't work! I then called back several times and heard "We cannot help you the system is down". The charges are minimum ($39.99 x 3 = $119.97) but the more importantly dealing with Match was ridiculous.

Moreover, when you request to cancel the subscription, they request your phone number as well. I never received a phone call from Match about my request for cancellation. Overall, Match did not meet my needs and has poor business ethics.
