On the morning of Tuesday September 8th I went into the Mattress 1 One store that I had a layaway at and asked for it to be canceled since I was going to be moving away with no means of taking the mattress with me. The worker present responds that he is new and does not know company policy on returns so to please drop by in the afternoon once he has called corporate.
I come by in the afternoon and he informs me that they will happily refund me via check but that a 20% stocking fee of the bed price would be charged. I agreed and returned the next day, Wednesday, with the invoice that stated how much was left on the bed to paid and the original invoice number of the cost of the bed so that they can calculate my refund. I am told I would be receiving my check in the store Thursday.
On Thursday I drop by and another gentlemen tells me that there is no check for me at the store to call at 7 to see if the delivery trucks drops it off. I call at 7 and no check. I am then told to call Friday to see if the check is in at the same time. I call Friday and Saturday to hear the same excuse that they are sorry that the truck didn't leave it. I remind them I am leaving on Monday morning and I need the check by then.
Sunday comes around and I call when they open at noon and am told that a manager is personally bringing in the check. 6pm rolls by, the store closes and I have no check once again. I am forced to call the police to see if I can file a report and they tell me I can file it but it will become a court matter.
Today, Monday, is the day I am suppose to be leaving state but can not now since I was using the check money to drive up North. I call the store once more and he tells me he can not have a check for me until Wednesday and that he has informed someone named Betty at corporate of the situation that I should call her. I have left numerous messages on a voicemail machine since Ms. Betty has not answered any of my calls. Tomorrow marks a week of lies and stalling for a check that is rightfully mine of about $250.
This company exudes very poor customer care and ripped me off of my hard earned money
