Brought car for an oil change and only later found out from other repair shop that Mavis overtightened drain plug and stripped thread in drain hole. Rethreading drain hole cost me 110$. Mavis would have used a self-tapping plug that would not have lasted as long and would have required replacing the oil pan. I asked for a reimbursement, which they denied. They insist that they want to inspect what the other repair shop did. That is a fair request, but I am convinced that they will not only do more damage to my car, but will also not reimburse me in the end.

Had to come in four times to get wheel bearings redone. They intentionally ignored the mounting instructions and used a much higher torque ruining the bearing. They did that three times!!

Brought in car to have axle replaced, they installed wrong axle. Only found out about this after a different repair shop noticed it. Wrong axle would have damaged parts of engine leading to catastrophic failure.

Aside from that, their attitude is horrible. They let customers wait forever, never call when they promised to do, are never done when they promised to be done, and make you drop the car off at 8 in the morning just so that they can get to it at five in the afternoon.

Avoid at all cost. Not worth the few bucks that you save there!

I did contact the corporate office and was promised a speedy call back from the regional manager. Hours later I called back because I did not receive a call from the regional manager. The manager was constantly talking and did not even want to listen to what I had to say.

Eventually he asked me to come in so that they can "inspect" the work the other repair shop did. He also claimed that the other shop ripped me off. Fact is, the proper rethreading of the drain hole IS the proper repair compared to the self-tapping drain plugs that Mavis would have used. Using those type of plugs works a few times, but then the oil pan has to be replaced.

I will not let anyone from Mavis touch my cars again. Every job asked for got screwed up at least once and lasting damage was done to my cars. As mentioned in my original report, I went four times to get the wheel bearings done right. The axle replacement was done wrong and could have caused extensive damage if it was not for a different repair shop noticing the shoddy workmanship and incorrect parts used.

Inspecting the work is a fair request, but I am convinced that any Mavis mechanic will either cause more damage to my cars or based on the horrible experience with the regional manager will be the opportunity for intentionally damaging my car as retaliation for a complaint.

My suggestion is to fire the regional manager and hire properly trained mechanics who have a clue. Maybe others have a better experience with Mavis then. I gladly forgo the reimbursement than having anything ever done to any of my cars by anyone from any Mavis store.

I cannot stress enough to anyone reading this: avoid Mavis at all cost!
