In 2009 my family purchased a Maytag dishwasher Model # MDC4650AWW2.  It had a recall, which they did fix.  in 2013, it stopped working, and was out of warranty.  We were told when inquirying about getting the dishwasher fixed that Maytag offered and extended warranty and would cover the repair.  My wife (after talking it over with me) decided to go online to purchase the warranty, then called to schedule the appointment.  She was informed that what she had purchased was not the same warranty she was told about when calling, and that she'd have to request a refund, then call to get the "special" warranty.  My wife mailed the official request letter, waited a few weeks but never heard anything.  She callled back and she was told to give it a month, which she did.  After a month, she called them back.  Come to find out, they gave her the wrong address.  She had to send the letter to another address.  After waiting almost a month, we finally got the money back.  Back to square one, my wife called again to get the "special" warranty.  This time she was told - "oh, you run an in-home child care - that's commerical use.  We cannot give you the "special" warranty.  After a second call from myself, detailing that the business hadn't even started until this year, and was only 3-4 toddlers at a time and hardly qualified as "commerical wear and tear" the company refused to budge on their stance.  I tried contacting Whirlpool (who bought out Maytag) and got the same answer.  I will NEVER buy another Maytag/Whirlpool appliance again, and would like to warn anyone thinking of starting a licensed, in home child care that 1) you won't make much money at it (you are better off getting a minimal wage job if you are in it for the money), and 2) you will void all your Maytag/Whirlpool Warranties!
