I opened a merchant services account with Leaders Financial for my small business. I had checked out Leaders and they were backed by the BBB, so I thought any company they would use for equipment leasing would be also..... wrong.

I was hooked up with MBF Leasing by Leaders, I signed my contract through Leaders with MBF so had no up front contact with them. My equipment was delivered on September 12, 2006, and was activated on September 15, 2006. Leaders was to pay my first month equipment lease, so my first payment to MBF for the equipment was to be October 15, 2006- which MBF insisted had to be a direct pull from my bank account. (I should have known something was wrong then)

I used the equipment on September 16, and really did not like the equipment. Upon speaking with MBF I was told that I could not exchange the equipment for another model - although my paperwork from Leaders states I could. I decided to use it a second time to see if things went smoother.

On October 7th while out with customers I received four automated messages from MBF Leasing saying I needed to contact them immediately. Upon calling they informed me that I had given them inaccurate bank account numbers for my bank draw and they had attempted to make a withdraw on October 1 (15 days early) and could not complete the transaction.

I told them I was not sure how that could happen, I had sent a cancelled check with my contract paperwork to Leaders and had confirmed my account numbers directly with MBF upon equipment activation. They then found that their accounting department had left off the last four didgets of my account number. I was then informed that I was charged a 15% late fee for being late with my payment. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold- indefinately.

Upon calling back I was disconnected several times. On October 8 I was contacted three times via automated message by MBF. Upon calling I was told ths same as the previous evening- that I was late with my payment and had given misinformation. I advised them that I had fixed this problem the previous evening, and then was disconnected again. Upon calling back they advised me that they would not speak with me because the contract they had was not in my name- but my ex-husbands!

This was not true- I had sighed all of the paperwork- of course have the originals since everything was scanned and e-mailed- and my ex-husbands name (John) appeared no where on any of the paperwork! I attempted to call them again and got the same response! So I gathered up the equipment (since it did not belong to me anyway accoring to them) and mailed it back to them with a nice little letter. Then I ran up to the bank and closed my merchant services bank account so they could not draw any more money out.

MBF is calling me five times a day, and then will not talk to me since my name is not on the contract! My ex has called seven times attempting to get them to fax him the signed contract because he did not sign it. They tell him they are sending- but never do.

After all of this I got online to check out MBF to find that they are the biggest scammers out there- the BBB says not to use them and you can search the net and find hundreds of people who have gone through similar- if not worse- nightmares with them. They have several different names nationwide- one of which is National Leasing.

I have contacted Leaders and advised them that they should check out this company before they send other clients to them (they lost my business because of MBF, and their name appears on all of the paperwork I have sent to agencies since they are the ones that I went through for the contract- this has to hurt their BBB rating.)

I have also filed with the BBB, Attorney General of Missouri (who upon speaking with knows the company well-and not in a good way) as well as the FTC.
I know several people have mentioned a class action suit- it is evident that this is what needs to be done. These people are practicing illegal ethics and need to be dealt with now!

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
