I don't resort to this forum unless I feel like a have been blatantly ripped off, and the dollar amount of the rip off does not matter as you will soon learn. For context, I live in Kansas City by way of San Diego and here the rent is cheaper but going out costs just as much if not more.

I went into McCoys for a quick drink around 2 after I had been out working my sales territory for many hot hours. When I learned they did not have any drink specials whatsoever at that time (typical. stupid but typical) I decided to just have a soda.

What I had was a Goslings Ginger Beer out of a can. Keep in mind, this is a NON ALCOHOLIC SODA, not an actual beer. They charged me $3.50 for this soda, and then when you add the obnoxious just under 10% tax they hit you with in the tourist areas of Kansas City (this should be it's own rip off report subject), it came out to just under $4.00.

This is just pure, obnoxious retail terrorism. They must be trying to offset the disaster that is the Beer Kitchen (also owned by the people behind McCoy's) which is right across the street and sucking wind big time. Westport pretty much sucks anyway, and cheesing people like this only makes em not want to come back.

To the management at McCoy's, I help run a business networking group that typically grosses a bar over $1000 during happy hours, and I will stick a fork in my eye before we ever book your event space.

You shouldn't be drinking soda anyways.  It's really bad for you.  How much did they charge for water?

I was staying at a hotel in San Francisco and paid $7 for a bottled water that is 82 cents at the grocery store.
