I've gone to this McDonald's for years. They've never been worse, never been better. They have constantly sucked. But of course, this is the norm for McDonald's. I usually have to go through the drive-thru, since I certainly don't want to be around the workers or most of the customers inside. Of course, the parking lot is so horribly designed it is hard to park. If you do find a spot, you risk being blocked in by the drive-thru line when you want to leave.

I am always rushed by the cashier when I get to the speaker box. Usually, the confirmation screen does not work, and they don't repeat the order for you. After diligently repeating my order, I am rushed to pull ahead and the cashiers act annoyed when I try to verify the specifics of my order.

I am nearly always asked to pull forward after I am handed my sodas. After rolling my eyes and trying to indicate that this is unacceptable, I wind up pulling up. A worker will bring my food and run back into the building as quickly as possible. I have no chance to check my food for accuracy.

I finally got them the other day. We ordered a couple of meals, one of them being chicken mcnuggets. They asked me to pull forward, as they were holding on the mcnuggets. I very quickly informed them that they would be refunding my money for everything and trashing the parts of the order they had so far assembled before I would pull forward.

Of course, they were not used to anyone standing up to the pull forward policy. A manager came, and said that since so much time had elapsed due to me so far holding up the line, my food would be ready very soon and I could wait at the window.

My food came, and I told the girl I needed sweet and sour sauce, I wanted three of them, I didn't care, I would give them the fifteen pennies they ask for the third sauce. I always keep plenty of change under my ashtray that is dirtier than hell to give people like this. And for amounts up to fifty cents, it's can usually be mostly filthy, ashy, pennies (spilled, dried, soda can be expected). She than said all the sweet and sour was in the basement, and no one could get it for me. I told her I had specified the sweet and sour at the speakerbox, and if they hadn't rushed me, they could have told me no sweet and sour was available.

I then told her my meal was ruined, I wanted my money back on everything, as we would now have to go to Wendy's, as the chicken was not for me, but for my passenger. My food would get cold as I trekked to Wendy's to get my passenger's meal. The girl, who was suffering from heavy rosacea, promptly burst into tears. A manager came and gave me my money.

I felt and still feel very satisfied that these grease slinging monkeys could feel the frustration I feel nearly everytime I went to their store.

I'm a jack in the box employee, but i have to stick up for my fellow fast food worker. fast food workers cant help it if you order everything on the menu. people complain when they get onions on their burger, or their fries are not EXTRA crispy. If you order any more than 4 burgers, most likely the cook will put onions anyways, because they will forget. youre probably too fat to be eating fast food anyways. what do you expect? if your order half the menu, you want to stay at the window? most people get 2 things, and cant wait for u to clean out their inventory. I'm not sure if you've ever worked fast food, you must have been spoiled all your life, but fast food is a hard job. people make fun of fast food workers, but you wouldnt last a day working fast food. you would run home crying from the way the customers treat you.

I stand with mcmanager and chad

AUTHOR: York - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 17, 2008

I was a general manager for McDonald's for 5 years. I worked at locations in Michigan and Florida.

I've said this so many times before. Yes we have problem employees, and yes the managers need to get rid of them, but not every single employee at McDonald's is stupid and lazy.

My crew generally worked 6-8 hours per day, managers even longer. Now MOST of our customers were fabulous. They placed their order, paid, got their food, and left.

Then there was people like you. Throwing a fit over such childish things. They may have asked you to pull forward while they waited on your chicken, and they may have ran it out to you and ran back in quickly, but you are still at the store and can always go inside if the order is in error, or pull around the drive thru again.

There are times when the person right behind you only got a shake or a drink. Why should they have to wait for your nuggets to finish. Just pull forward. If you were in that car, you wouldn't want to have to wait.

Had you told me to give you your money back, I would gave it back with a smile. Just to get you out of my window. I refused to make my other guests suffer for the ignorance of one.

On top of all that, in my years of experience, I have noticed when most people complain about the incident at a store, they tend to over exhaggerate to make them look like they did no wrong. I've investigated so many over blown complaints its not funny. Thankfully we have technology on our side. Cameras, and audio recording equipment. I can usually figure out when a customer didn't get a packet of ketchup and blew it up to they were missing an order of fries.

It sounds to me that you have taken this WAY out of proportion. And if you seriously aren't happy with that store, GO ELSEWHERE! It doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

MCMANAGER, THIS IS FYI

I want to avoid being snippy, but I have to ask how many McDonald outlets are there in this country and how many have you been in? I worked in a McDonalds which had...drum roll, please,... a BASEMENT! I have been in another as a customer and heard the manager tell an employee to bring up more cups from ...the BASEMENT. I don't expect you to know the structure of every outlet, but please don't write as though you do.
As an employee, I had shift managers who were considerate of the peons, and other managers who were simply nasty to us.

You know nothing about me

POSTED: Monday, April 28, 2008

How could you know what I think?? Do we know each other? No, I didn't think so. Me and the other employees, most of whom are NOT lazy, are always striving to "make things better". We can't help it that there's a segment of the population who are never satisfied and always find something to complain about. Who said you were lying? I certainly didn't. You sure are insulting, though. Here's a tip: Stop giving in to your kid and say no once in a while, then he'll learn he can't always have his own way.

Why do you think, Chad?

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 22, 2008

McDonald's isn't like Lowes vs. Home Depot. Or Kroger Grocery vs. Wal-Mart Grocery. There is one restaurant that has a Big Mac, THOSE Fries, etc,. If I want THAT TASTE, I have to go to McDonald's. If that is what my kid is whining for, McDonald's is where I have to go to make him happy.

So, why do you think I'm here b****** about the service? It's because of people like you who think people should just take whatever they get, no matter what the company implied they would be receiving for the agreed upon price. R-I-P-O-F-F IS HOW YOU SPELL McDONALD's.

Instead of acting like nothing is wrong, you and the collective mass of lazy employees with McDonald's should start looking at what is wrong and how you can make it better. You'd think it would be a goal for some of you to not provide the public with legitimate reasons to complain, but I guess that would be too much work for some of you.

I don't lie about my experiences at these restaurants. I don't have to. A lot of my orders wind up being 'buy one get one free' because lazy half-wits foul it up more often than not.

You mess my order up? I may or may not come back to have it replaced. But I will call the store on my cell and ask for restitution. Then it's very likely I'll call corporate as well, especially if the manager I speak with has the same lazy not-my-fault what-do-you-expect attitude. And if I do get that attitude, I call'em on it right there. How they handle it decides whether THAT gets reported to corporate along with their name. If you notice me staring at you, it's not you, it's the nametag. I like to provide corporate with names in case something goes wrong and I need to point fingers.

Thanks for the tips

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 10, 2008

That improves my attitude about the situation 100%, to be told I was more than likely LIED TO by an employee. Honestly, I don't think Roseacea had the sense to concoct a lie. So I believe they have a basement.
McDonald's has also been brilliant enough to install two speaker boxes for one pick-up window. Absolutely brilliant. Now, I watch as there is a mad dash between two cars to beat the other one out, or else beat me out. Of course that also adds to the confusion at the pick-up window. I suppose that serves McDonald's goal though, to get the order placed and the CAR PARKED. Who cares when they actually get their food, or if it is even correct? They got their money, and that car moved, so who cares?
McDonald's should stop obsessing over speed and focusing more on the hospitality, cleanliness and accuracy components of their business. Until they do, they will be treated as they have been in the past.
Lying to me will get me out of the line. But only after a manager waddles over and refunds my money. Hope they like their options.

Reading Back Orders

AUTHOR: Mcmanager - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 10, 2008

I feel i should tell you that we are not supposed to read back orders. In the interest of making your visit as fast as possible it's policy to not read them back, anyone who does is breaking policy. Sadly the drive has been reduced to the idea, of moving cars.

While this may seem like a hassle for you, think of the hassle for us. Often the person taking your order is that same person taking your money. No one wants to sit at the speaker and wait, but no one wants to wait to have their order paid for either. Prehaps some of that hostilty isn't for you, maybe it's for the idea that they are trying to take and order from someone at the speaker and now they have to slow the line down, stop taking orders, and risk getting yeld at to "MOVE THE CARS" to read back your order.

As far as saying the sweet and sour sauce was in the basement, i find that hard to believe as i've never seen a mcdonalds with a basement, and i have a hard time believing they would be build one. For no other reason that it would make moveing any of the dry stock supplies in a timely manner unbearalbe. Mcdonalds tends to pay very close attention to the flow and design of the store. I rather think you were told this for no other reason than to get you out of the line, to keep the cars moving.

As a crew memeber i was heard the phrase "cars have wheels for a reason, and they better start moving" so many times a day i could have shot myself.

It's because of customers like you that the McDonalds is declining. The I want it NOW NOW NOW attuide as made the whole Corparation insane about Time Limits and instead of making it better for the customer and faster, it's only made it slower and a bad experance for the customer. Time limits are why people get parked, 'move the cars' is why people get parked, and customer service is not going to get any better as long as people keep complaining about wanting it now now now.

The workers made it personal.

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 07, 2008

The reason we all have gripes about any fast food restaraunt almost always falls back to the workers who are personally involved with serving us. Only corporate policy is something you cannot blame on workers at the local franchise. It was the workers' choice to be lazy, disinterested and unprepared. Corporate certainly doesn't stand behind their choices of putting their own interests first while placing customer service on the back burner. Rosacea was a descriptive part of the story, meant to be an indicator of who this person was if any readers have been to this store and they could recognize who I was referring to. And yeah, my kid is a whiner. Most of them are.

And if the speakerbox girl was like the boy I called the manager about before this incident (He screwed my order up because he was on his cell phone. You know, back away from everyone, thinking he could get away with it due to his seclusion. He had me charged double on a McRib meal when I only wanted two sandwiches, not two meals. And the manager told me this was the third incident involving his cell phone.) And the other incident when I told the speakerbox girl I didn't want ketcup dripping all outside of the bun and in the wrapper on my cheeseburger. She said "What a f**king d**k" before she clicked her mic off. I went right in to the manager on that one and pointed her out. The manager claimed she was on her cell phone with her boyfriend. I pounced all over that, asking if that was what she was supposed to be doing while taking an order.

And there are countless other times I was disgusted with this place, left feeling ripped off by not getting what I paid for. The cheap processed cheese they use leaves me feeling bloated and heavy. I don't want, and always say no cheese. They usually give me cheese. I'm on my lunch break, I leave, and there's the cheese, melted to the bun and meat, impossible to pick off. I can't do a d**n thing about it except eat it, or not eat. These workers do not listen, do not care and deserve what they get.

Point is, this help that is no help at all needs to be reported when they make these mistakes. We'll be doing everyone a favor. The other customers may eventually get better service. The bad workers will get fed up with having to meet high expecatations and leave. Management will be fed up with the fighting, griping and general malaise, and be more selective in hiring and retention of help, hopefully leading to better pay.

Why?

AUTHOR: Nicole - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

Let me preface this by stating that I have not ever, nor do I now, work for McDonalds. However, I think your comments are out of line.

"The girl, who was suffering from heavy rosacea, promptly burst into tears"

What does that have to do with your story? Why do her dermatological problems play any part in your rant? Maybe because you are a jerk? Oh and referring to your child as "whiny"? Quality parenting.

So often, on this site, people resort to name calling and poking fun of service workers. Now, I understand the frustrations (although having your meal ruined by a lack of sauce? Rather sad, I think), but there is no need to make it personal. Its business. You don't like it? Go somewhere else, and eventually they will straighten up or fold under.

And stand up and be a real parent, tell your kid NO! That is what you are there for. If you can't do that, you shouldn't breed.
