I changed to MCI - The Neighborhood after getting bills over $80 from phone services that promised $25 bills. Don't fall behind on a payment. By fall behind I mean pay your bill that was due on the 22nd on the 7th of the next month.

MCI starts calling you about your bill ten days after it is due. They call you everyday until your check that was in the mail clears.

Well the plot thickens:
August 7th my check clears and my account is credited. My dial tone service stops working. I call customer service only to be informed that I owe for this months bill that is due on August 22nd and how would I like to pay. I tell the operator that my phone has no dial tone. She transfers me to repair customer service. The technician tells me to unplug the phone, wait 15 minutes then plug in one phone, not a cordless phone. I do that and wait for the technician to call back. They did not call back after 1.5 hours so I call customer service again.

This time I am lectured about the next bill that is due that I have not received. I tell the person that I just want my dial tone back that is all that I am calling about. The person insinuates that my phone was cut off because of non-payment (remember it has been 16 days since my bill was due.) I of course get upset and want him to repeat what he insinuated. He stammers and I again ask him to restate that my phone was cut off. My statement was, "Are you saying that my phone was cut off because I missed the due date by 10 days?." He stammers and hangs up.

I call back only to be on hold for a half hour. This time Kevin puts me through to repair customer service who informs me that I will have my dial tone back no later than 4 days from now.

The Neighborhood is a good theory in phone service but you have to have customer service to back that up. I have never received calls for overdue bills 10 days after the due date. I have changed my phone service to avoid the aggravation!

You didn't read the report very well. Reread it for comprehension. I really hope that MCI the Neighborhood has improved their customer service after 16 years.

I'm sure MCI really misses having a customer who thinks that being ten days late does not warrant having the service he's not paying for be cut off.  How much of a grace period do you think MCI SHOULD have given you?  Not two weeks, because you admit you were past that and still wanted service.  A month?  Two months?  Whenever the hell you felt like making the payment?

I wish I had been on the other end of the phone at MCI.  When you asked "are you saying my phone was cut off because I missed the due date by ten days?" I would have responded YES, because you are not ENTITLED to a service you have not PAID FOR. 

"I have never received calls for unpaid bills ten days after the due date."  So you have a history of not paying your bills on time.  You've been fortunate for years with lenient creditors, and now you're complaining because one broke some unwritten rule that says you pay when you want to, not when the bill is due?  You're hysterical. 

How many times have you been stuck with credit card late fees because the Unfair Uncooperative Unreasonable credit card monsters wanted payment by the due date?  Do you even have credit anymore?

Deadbeat.
