My wife was approached by 2 guys in a silver Ford pickup in the parking lot of Sam's Club in Webster, TX representing themselves as Paul Stevens and Chris Genereaux. They convinced her that they had just installed a "1080p" projector TV in a church and had accidentally received an extra that they needed to sell. She was going to walk away but they convinced her it was a great deal. The scam is elaborate. The box with the Venu XD-1070  has an outrageously high MSRP of $5439 marked on top.The projector barely does standard definition with a max of 720p if you are lucky. They tried to sell it to her for $1500 at first and them conned her into paying $1000 by check which Paul cashed immediately.

As soon as she got home we called the number on the "Purchase Agreement" from Media Distributions with seller listed as Paul Stevens and Chris Genereaux. We left a message on the voicemail. We also left a voicemail on the number listed on Paul Stevens possibly bogus business card. We got a call back from Josh at the number listed for Media Distributions. We told him that we wanted to return the unit for a refund. He stated that they do not do refunds. It is very well hidden in the super small fine print at the bottom of the "Purchase Agreement". He gave us the address of the warehouse in Webster 12430 Highway 3, Suite C-18, Webster, TX 77598.

The following day we delivered a written request for refund under the Texas State "Cooling Off" law which gives you 3 days to back out of contracts sold to you at your home or other location that is not the sellers place of business. We also sent it Certified Mail return receipt requested. We contacted Josh the following week to see about our refund request and he said he would make sure we did not get a refund.

The Texas State Comptrollers Office has no record of the business name Media Distributions even though they showed sales tax paid on our "Purchase Agreement" We are currently trying to file a petition for small claims in the local Justice of the Peace Court. If we are unable to do that we may need to file charges against Paul Stevens and or Media Distributions.

Stay clear of these guys and please report them to the authorities as well as the manager of the business where they are hanging out.
