I signed up with Melaleuca after seeing an ad online promising that moms will make extra income for their family. I went so far as to do the online "power point presentation" with other representatives in order to learn how to make the riches I was promise in the online ad.

I made my initial order then realized that an order would come out of my bank account even if I didn't order. To make any kind of a profit I would have to get people to sign up and make monthly orders from them, that would total more than I am paying...monthly.

I emailed the woman who signed me up and asked how do I cancel my membership because I can't afford to make monthly payments. She instructed me to fax a letter stating this to Melaleuca before the 25th and that my membership will be cancelled. I did this, and (my fault) they said I didnt sign it and I needed to sign the letter. so I sent another one in and thought everything was taken care of.

Well I get an email today saying that my order has been shipped!! I called them directly and I was told that faxed letters aren't a guarantee that my membership will be cancelled. Now I have to mail in a letter stating the exact same thing with my signature and all the information I sent in before.

My next step?? Go to my bank to see if I can get the company blocked. Send in my letter by registered mail and contact my lawyer. I need my money, to pay my rent, feed my kids and pay bills. I cannot afford their over priced useless products.

Fax them a letter

AUTHOR: Satisfied - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 01, 2009

All they require is written notice. Like with any written contract...the one you signed, it makes good sense to cancel with a written notice. Not all companies require it but this one is clearly defined in the terms of agreement.

How to cancel Membership

AUTHOR: Friendly Neighbor - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 09, 2008

I've been around this company for awhile due to my mom being a sworn member.

A "backup order", is a box you check on your application saying you allow them to send you an order if you forget to make one during that month. The reason they do this is due to people forgetting to make an order one month and not receiving a check for all their hard work. They then decided to keep a backup plan in case people forget that way they get paid month after month.

The most efficient method for canceling your membership is through their fax number which is 1-888-528-2090. It's a toll free fax that deals with orders and Enrollments.

On the letter just write,

I (your name),
can not continue making my monthly purchase and would like to cancel my membership.

(your Signature)

(your phone number you used to sign up, which is conveniently your account number)

That's it just fax it in and you're officially debt free :D

Big manufacturers count on people like you just as much as cigarette companies count on smokers.

They are not useless products, but keep using the products in your home that are full of harsh chemicals. I don't let people tell me things about things they know nothing about. It's your opinion and that isn't backed by any proven study.

People should know that the back up order is there to keep your membership benefits in place. You can cancel your membership at anytime however, with hundreds of thousands of households who do order every month, Melaleuca has no way of knowing that you don't want an order unless you tell them. That is why they have the back up order in place.

You failed to tell people that the back up order can be returned and you will receive a full refund. You can also receive a refund of your membership fee for the first 120 days of enrollment! Melaleuca is 100% satisfaction guaranteed company and they have awesome customer service.

Successful people are people that do what unsuccessful people don't do

AUTHOR: Stephen Martin - (New Zealand)

POSTED: Saturday, July 19, 2008

Mate if you believe that's what Melaleuca is then that is all it will ever be to you.

I am not in the company but have been approached and have done my research the products are good, in general the equal about the same cost as standard products and are no doubt better for the enviroment. Anything glowing green is a worry.

When looking at how to run a business with the company it takes time effort and alot of work and of course training. From what I have seen in my area there are free fortnightly training sessions, free product sessions and people willing to work with me at no cost. If anything I will use external training to develop myself and business which I would anyway.

I wish you the best in what ever you do mate.

What a LOAD

AUTHOR: Leonard - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 18, 2008

OK - so the reason people fail at melaleuca is becasue they don't take advantage of the "training" materials. Of course the training materials and marketing tools cost TONS OF MONEY! So the poor fool is told he is failing because he needs to buy the materials from - surprise, melaleuca or the upline person. The upline parson is making his real money on the sales of this crap, not through the products, or the residual sales. It is from the TRAINING. And of course, if a person complains about not making money, The melaleuca person tells them they need to buy more and more marketing and training crap. It becomes an endless cycle. And another RED FLAG is when the melaleuca person tries to distance themselves from the outlandish claims made by the "independant sales reps" - but will do nothing to STOP the false claims, using the worn out excuse -"they are independant business reps and we have no control over what they say."

Come on people - this is a BIG SCAM - LOOK AT IT! Ask the upline, exactly how much money they are REALLY making on the sales of the products, downline commissions and sales of the training and marketing tools. Tell them you want to know NET, not GROSS amounts. If they wont show you, then RUN - because they are LYING to you.

#2 UPDATE Employee

I am so sorry that your experience was unsatisfactory!

AUTHOR: Diversity311 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 16, 2008

I have been with Melaleuca for almost 3 years now and I find it to be an amazing and wonderful company and I am so sorry to hear that you did not have the same experience.

I would like to start off by addressing the "promise to make riches" ad that you mentioned. First of all if, in fact, there was such an ad, that is too bad. We are not supposed to make any type of promise on income. It is certainly very possible to make a large amount of money, but no one within the company can promise you this, simply becuase the only way to make money with Melaleuca is by working hard and being consistant and persistant in your efforts. As a Personal Mentor for this company, I can not promise any of my enrollments that they will 'strike it rich', all I can do is show them how it's possible, the rest is entirely up to them and their ability to have self discipline and their ability to work towards and achieve their personal goals, as well as to plug into the team and the training that is provided for them.

Secondly, if you were to contact Melaleuca directly, they would tell you that to cancel your account, you need to mail in a signed letter stating that you wish to cancel by the 25th of any given month. They may tell you that you can fax in something, but that they don't guarantee faxes. If you choose to fax in your cancelation, your best bet is to follow your fax with phone calls to confirm that your fax was indeed recieved. Also, if your enroller told you to fax in your cancellation and never explained any of this, that is unfortunate and if she didn't know 100% then she should have found this out before telling you to do it this way. This is on her though, and should not reflect on Melaleuca as a whole, however, since she is 'representing' Melaleuca, it is her job to provide you with accurate information. If I don't know something 100%, I find out before telling one of my enrollments what to do. When I first enrolled with Melaleuca my enroller told me something that wasn't true and because of something she told me I was charged money I was not expecting, but because it was her error, she offered to pay for her mistake. Which is what your enroller should have done, in my opinion. That is what I would do if I were to make such an error.

Lastly I would like to say that Melaleuca's products are anything but overpriced. They are approximately 40% less expensive 'per use' then what I was purchasing at Wal-mart every week. Not to mention they are safer for our home, the environment and most importantly my children. I too have bills to pay and I am so greatful that Melaleuca's goal is to help me financially, not hurt me. And because of Melaleuca I have been blessed with amazing products, an awesome team, and a wonderful home based business that allows me to stay home and raise my own children, and that's more than I could have hoped to have asked for in a company. As long as you 'switch stores' when you enroll with Melaleuca and do not continue to buy these same types of products elsewhere, you will find that there will be no new money spent and it will not affect your ability to pay your other bills.

Again, I am sorry that you had such an unfortunate experience with what really is a wonderful, amazing company. Sometimes, and it's really unfortunate that it is this way, but sometimes it's all about who enrolls us in the company. Because that can make all the difference in having a good experience or a bad one. And it's not just that way with Melaleuca, it's any company. If I were to call a company and get phone service, one reprsentative could cause me to have an awful experience with the same company that another representative could cause me to have an amazing experience with, and I've had this happen. I try not to let one person rule out an entire experience for me, because if I do, I may very well be missing out on something wonderful simply because of ONE PERSON's inability to reflect what is really an awesome company to be involved with. If I let that happen I would have missed out on several amazing opportunities over the course of my life. Good luck to you in the future, whatever you decide to do. I just wanted to right a wrong that I felt you had against Melaleuca and to clarify some things. If you want to talk or have any further questions or comments feel free to contact me!

Again, I wish you the best of luck!

I have a different experience

AUTHOR: Chico - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 12, 2008

I'm sorry to see you have had this experience. It has not been my case. I joined Melaleuca and immediately came to this site to assess the public's general opinion about it. I've struggled with the business side, even up to today. Like many posting here, I have my share of complaints. That is normal. In my short experience in life I haven't found one person or company who is perfect.

And I really don't understand all this complaints. I've done a very bad job at presenting the concept to some people. I mean bad!!!! To the point of just handing them the application and have them signed it. How worse of a job can a person do? In every case the only thing I did right was to explained two things very well: automatic shipment and cancelation. I mean really well.

Needles to say, five people have canceled. One of them sent the fax without signature and of course was not accepted. I resend it myself the next month and it was accepted. All the others have had no trouble at all and they all think of me as a nice person. I didn't ripp them off. They think well of the company. We're still good friends and they think Melaleuca offers a good line of products. No hard feeling toward nobody!!!

I just don't understand!!!
