Merchants Credit Guide Old Debt over 8 yrs ago ripoff Chicago Illinois

I received a phone call and of course called them back. I gave them my last 4 digits of my social. I told them i didnt know what they were talking about and to prove my debt to me. They said they have been sending letters ( i have gotten none). They kept wanting me to make a payment. I told them that I if i have a debt it is over 7 years old. My states SOL is 6. They said oh so you are not going to pay...do i need to note that on your account.

I told them that i wanted them to prove the debt becasue if it is over 6 years old then i dont owe it. They said that the SOL means they cant post it on my credit but i still have to pay. Then they asked me for my new mailing address. I told them that they could send it to my old one and it would get fowarded to me.

Do i still owe the debt after 6 years or should i send them a cease letter. They got very rude with me.
