BOTTOM LINE. When Merritt Truax station damages your car, they'll do anything to avoid paying it. When you communicate them through the station brand's phone number, you'll get a promise of follow up that they don't keep. When you call the company staff yourself, they'll say what you want to hear, but don't come through or return calls.

Avoid this station and and any station operated by Merritt Truax. You can't fill gas yourself in Oregon and you have to let the attendant fill it. So things happen sometimes,  but the differene is that Merritt Truax lies, bullies you to twist the situation to make their fault into yours. Merritt Truax Inc ripped me off on nearly $200 in damage done to my car.

Go across the street and fill at (((REDACTED))). Use their rewards card and it is 3 cents off the posted price automatically. ((REDACTED))) actually ends up being cheaper and there's no incentive to go to Merritt Truax 76. Reward is none, risk is there.

The attendant at 76 station at 9010 SE 82nd Ave carelessly poured gas in the area gas tank nozzle well and got some on my paint, and a bunch on the liner. I had a sickening amounts of gas smell in my car for over a week and at that point, I wanted fixed. The replacement cost quoted to replace uphostery they damaged was almost $200 and smell was noticeable for even after two months.

From the way the attendant was looking at my car, it was evident he did something, but he pretended like nothing happened. I parked the car, looked at it. There was some gas along the side and a strong odor from the wheel well area. I had to demand the attendant to just wipe it off.

I called the store and District Manager Joseph accused me of sensing non-existent smell and plays it off like its no big deal. "we spill gas all the time, and we don't even have to report it unless its over xx gallons", then he became hostile and started complaining about not being nice enough to their employee after the said employee tried to hide the damage he caused to my car. He stated that the store is bugged with hidden audio recording device and "heard everyting that was said" and that he wasn't going to pay to address the smell issue.

I called 76 customer service and service rep Janice assured someone will call me back within 10 business days. The next day I spoke to Merritt Truax operations manager Barbara and she offered to pay for cleaning. She stated that the Distrit Joseph lied and that there is no eavesdropping device in the store. I said that I will follow-up if smell persists after a few days. I followed up with 76.

I have not heard back after 10 days so I called 76 again and they said that it is JACKSON OIL who supply the gas and that this location is a dealer with multiple sites and something like that. 76 says the station is independently owned, and given the lack of followup from Merritt Truax, I don't count on getting them to owe up on damage short of getting a court judgment against them.

Merritt Truax runs a bunch of stations in Oregon. You can't tell from looking at the signs, but go to Oregon DEQ's website deq12.deq.state.or.us/fp20/startpage.aspx?edit=1 and search "Merritt" or "Truax" in your county to check if the station you regularly use is on the list. I've been using this 76 fairly regularly and I didn't have the slightest clue who runs it. I didn't have any issues until I had to contact them about damage.

No respect for others property. No morals. Given the comment District Manager Joseph made to the effect that spilling gas is no big deal, I don't think think they give a d**n about environmental damage either.
