In your contract it states that you must give 24 hours notice of cancellations. This is to ensure that you stick to your appointment, and if you cancel within 24 hours of the appt. you are charged because you have taken a slot of that therapists time which they would not get paid for otherwise.

You do not have to pay transfer fees to give a massage away to someone else, they can pay it themselves and its only $10.

You dont have to start a membership if you dont want to, it is totally in your hands.

Despite the $63 you pay for a massage there, most of us therapists only make $15 per 1 hour massage. its not much and as for me personally, i survive mostly off my tips. Its not required to tip, much like its not required to tip your waiter/waitress but it is good manners and greatly appreciated.

The cancellation process for a membership should be no more difficult than calling the spa and letting them know you no longer wish to continue your membership.
