When originally hired; offered a weekly salary of 'X' amount for 19 weeks, and then straight commission.  After working for agency for more than a year it is revealed there are additional fees to stay on with the company.  All agents are charged the weekly fee and it is taken out of gross commissions before payroll, before taxes and is a straight profit for MetLife.  The weekly fee is not revealed on payroll or paystub as paying the fee so it is not tax deductible, but does amount to over $1,200.00 a month for MetLife to keep you on as an agent.  Also, there is a fee to pay the person who is training you, which could be seen as a bonus to them amounting to $1,000.00, but is on your new hire paperwork as a payment to your training person.  It was not revealed that in order to make a living on straight commission that you must drive to customer's homes, and your mileage is not reimbursed by MetLife.  I put over 50,000 on my vehicle and many unpaid hours driving.  Postage, advertising, mailings, etc...are not reimbursed by MetLife, however you are still a W-2 employee?  New agents pressured to produce 20,000 in what MetLife calls GDCs; gross dealer commissions, before hired as an agent.  Beware when working with this company and what is omitted from what you are told about the hiring process.  Commissions are paid out at a percentage of your pool of commissions and if you leave before paid on the balance you forfeit the balance.
