My ford explorer was stolen and recovered, the key and remote to security system was not recovered. I contacted Metro ford, they quoted me $125.00 to cut two(2) keys and program them for my security system. I had the vehicle towed to metro ford.

I was told by John R. Davis, service advisor, that Saturday morning of the quote they could not get to my vehicle until Monday. John Davis called me at 3 pm that same day and told me it would be $140.00 to $160.00 to cut and program the two keys. He also informed me they had already completed a recall on my vehicle.

I was not aware of the recall nor did I request the recall be replaced. I also was not aware that I was being charged for the recall being done until I paid my bill. I assumed since it was a defective part that Ford would be responsible for the cost. The unauthorized work was not an issue until Monday afternoon..

I called Metro ford and spoke to John Davis Mon day morning. He then informed me it would be another additional $65.00 if I wanted a working security system. I did not have the additional $65.00 so I told John Davis I would have to forfeit the security system.

I asked Jon Davis at that time if they would check the rear bumper, that it was loose and about to fall off. John said that they would take care of it and the vehicle should be ready approximately 1 PM that afternoon.

John Davis called at 1:26 PM that same afternoon to inform me the vehicle was ready for pick-up. Also informed me that the rear bumper was in fact not loose, he had personally checked it.

I arrived at Metro ford approx an hour later, john Davis directed me to the cashier where I was presented with a bill of $349.81. Included in that amount was $69.00 for a tow bill that was not a part of the quote. That brought the total for Metro ford down to $280.81 for work quoted to me origanally at $125.00 and a working security system. I provided them a working key to cut from, so they were less the expense of making a cast for one.

I was dumb founded by the bill but at same time just thankful that I wasn't having to replace the vehicle. A porter brought my vehicle to the front to me. Handed me a shiny new key on a large yellow service tag and thanked me. I got in and started tp drive away when I noticed the key in the console. I picked it up it, it was the old key I provided to cut from.

I went back in and requested my other new $140.00 key which I had the reciept for in my hand. I was told it was in my console. I was quickly informed I was wrong when tried to explain it was not a new key. They did not back down, insisting it was new. Even thought it was very scratched, silver worn off points and the plastic covering on it was torn off over the computer chip in it.

I informed them I provided one key and paid for two new keys, which meant I wasn't leaving without a total of three keys. John Davis and a mechanic then went to the vehicle and spent 5 minutes searching for the mysterious key.

As they searched I picked up on the bumper that was not loose, it almost fell off the car. I showed John Davis, his response was, I quote" I only pushed down to see if it was loose. What you need to do when you get home is put an impact wrench on it"

My response was did you find the 3rd key? Without a word the car pulled off and I was left standing in the car lot. 25 minutes later a different porter pulled my car around, got out, walked through maybe a three foot space between me and my vehile without a word and the large yellow service tag that was on my key the first time in hand.

Iasked if that was my key and he spouted off that my key was in it and it was running. Never an explanation, an apology, nothing. Three porters drove that vehicle just while I was there, they could not keep from noticing that you could not see throught he windshield because of the 3/4 inch wide bright red grease marker writing from the police recovery and tow lot.

No one had the courtesy to clean at least a spot for them to move it so they could see, much less me drive it 15 miles home. I had to use the bottom of stryofoam cup to scrape enough off to get home. After paying $140.40 a piece for two keys. THe same keys that Metro ford and two other places all quoted me $125.00 for the pair.
