On October 13, 2010 I purchased a Samsung Caliber R860M from Metro.  Two days later my phone began to continuously restart over and over.  I took my phone back to metro with all of its contents and advised them of my problem.  I was told  that they didnt have anymore in stock and to file a claim with the insurance and pay a deductible.  I was not going to pay anything since I just purchased the phone two days earlier for $200+ dollars.  I left the store in anger and a friend suggested that she call the store and ask if they have any in stock.  Well, she called and guess what?  They have plenty in stock.  I was just told less than an hour ago that they were out of stock.  So, armed with this information, I go back to the store and told them that someone just called this location and was advised that there are plenty of samsung calibers in stock.  Now, I'm offered a new caliber to replace the one I purchased two days prior.  I get the new caliber activated, give them the old one, and Im good to go.  Now, Im using my second caliber.  About 7 days later, my second caliber began to continuously restart just as the first one did.  I take the second one back with all of its contents and advise of same issue.  I was told once again that there arent any in stock.  So, I tell them that I dont want another caliber because the phone apparently has some horrible issues.  Instead, I ask to replace the caliber with a Blackberry Curve which is only ten dollars more.  The manager brings out a new Blackberry Curve and says your plan is going to be $10 more and your total will be $30 for the new Blackberry.  I had no idea that I would have to fork out anymore money so I left the store and drove approx 12miles to go get the $30.  When I returned to the store with the $30, the manager stated that "I apologize but its going to be $66 for the Blackberry Curve".  I told the manager that this is not right, I brought you what you asked for and now its something different, Ive been through two caliber's in twelve days, cant get a refund, youre charging me more money to get a different phone of same value, and to top it all off, there are photos I just took of my dad's funeral (10-22-2010) on the second caliber that I cant retrieve due to the technical issues.  This is horrible.  I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.  Now, because I refuse to give them $66 more dollars on top of the $200+ I just spent on 10-13, I am without a cell phone.  Im in the process of trying to contact corporate.  If I could just get those photos out the phone I would take the loss and walk.  This is sad.  This company cant expect to succeed when they are treating customers like this.  If they put themselves in our shoes then they would understand.  The manager knew that this was wrong but choose to only say "I apologize but its going to be $66 for the Blackberry Curve." when he himself had me drive for miles to return with what he asked for, only to try and add $36 more to pocket.  This company wont prosper.  I advise anyone to stay away from Metro PCS.

Keep in mind, ANY 'replacement" of a phone will be a "refurb"

Keep this in mind.

The reason the Metro PCS store employee would not switch it out right there is that he/she makes commission on the sale of each phone and new account activated. If he gives up a new phone to replace yours, he gives up his income.

This is because in almost every situation, all carriers do warranty replacements ONLY with REFURB phones. You guessed it, a USED phone.

You will rarely, if ever, get a NEW replacement phone.

And ALL phone replacements via the "insurance, after paying that $50 deductible, WILL be REFURB. That's right, you pay your monthly insurance fee, and your $50 deductible to get a USED phone with a 30 day warranty!

What a deal!

Going thru the same situation

AUTHOR: longhornfann - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 26, 2010

I know exactly what u r goin thru. I am having the same issue. To start with I was with awell-known carrier to start with. A friend referred me to MetroPCS, she talked them up, as well their services. So, I thought that I would do some investigating. Several times I went into their stores; stood their for an hour without acknowledgment (by a manager). I walked right out. Went to anotherstore; asked my questions, debated about it for several months, and when the time was right went with them.My reason: each month with my other carriers bill, I neverknew what to expect. I wanted to know each month how much my cell bill would b..That was the reason for my switch. SO, when I went to the store; I knew what phone I wanted topurchase, andhad the monies to do so. Well, the cs rep at the store proceeded to tell me that they didn't have any in stock. Oh K...I am in the customer service industy..aren't we all....Hello! Wouldn't thecommon sense thing to do.....IF they wanted my business.....OH....or the commission....if that is how they work..D....A$$...wouldn't they say....let me call one of our other stores and see if we can't have that phone sent over here for you.......REALLY......nope...didn't happen...well, I am a woman, you know we can't wait. We have to have it; rite now!Well, I wanted the Blackberry; becausemy job sendsmy work to my computer at home. So, if I am out, well, I can get it...thru my phone. I can get it quicker. So.I also wanted it for Facebook so that I could connect with family back home, in Illinois.Well, they didn't try their darndest to satisfy this customer. Instead I got the Samsung Messanger II. Within a few hours of activation the phone began to have issues, I took the phone back, and the person whom sold me the phone had left for the day, the person whom was there...could hardly even speak english....GREAT!...Ileft, called customer service; they reset, went to tech support,I ended up loosing half the stuff on my phone. Every half hour and hour my phonescreen changes all by itself like I slide the keyboard open, and then it downloads information all by itself...I always think they(Metro) are supposed to be automatically doing this. When I have talked to Tech support..she stated they don't download anything...(great, I have a possessed phone). Well, they wanted me to take the phone to a service(corporate) store, which from where I live is like a 3hr drive, unless they want to send me orgive me gas money..Have they seen the price ofgas lately? Well, I am not driving clear on the other side of Dallas, for something thatisn't my fault. They thenhad me take the phone back to where I purchased. I had to get yet another phone. I had to pay for...yep another 200+, along with 10 dollars for shipping. Only to have the SAME issues. so I stopped calling. Only NOW, when I text. Some of the letters don't appear. So i was looking on the website, and they have the Blackberry for the EXACT same price for which I purchased this Samsung Messanger II, which I found out they NO Longer carry. They won't switch me out, they want me to purchase ANOTHER phone. THEY got me messed up. I repeatedly told them I will not purchase another phone. I don't need 2 phones. I didn't want this one to start with. I also did my research and found that METROPCS is NOT registered with the BBB. When I asked the customer service agent for their corporate information. which was quite comical; she came back on the line. she stated to me that unfortunately she was unable to give that information out. oh really. I asked her for her BBB file number, she stated to me the same thing. She stated that if I looked in the yellow pages I would find it. I laughed in her face and hung up. They aren't in the yellow pages. She is overseas how would she know...hahaha. I did however get to speak to a "so called supervisor" by the name of rodrique; I stated to him that I purchased a Blackberry Curve from Wal-mart, and wanted to know if they were able flash that. He got MAD, and stated that MetroPCS no longer flashes Blackberrys, it HAS to be purchased at MetroPCS and has to say MetroPCS on it. I explained funny my samsung was purchased metro, and it doesn't have metropcs on it. he hung up on me. I think he was upset that I told him I purchased the Blackberry somewhere else. (I really didn't, but I just wanted to see, what they would say)....Sorry a Blackberry is a Blackberry, he tried to tell me that it couldn't be flashed, because Metro has special features..it wouldn't work.......What is the differnce. What they wouldn't be able to overcharge. So, I know how you feel, because this Messanger II was NOT the original phone I wanted, but I just been patient, and now the Blackberry is on sale for the same price as what I paid for this phone, and you would think that since I have had SO many problems with this phone, they would say......sure. I was even willing to pay the diffence as well...NO GO....I would go to another carrier as well, but due to an ugly divorce and the x takn my social and distroyn it...well, its less than desirable. So, I don't feel like payn more than my rent right now just to get another phone, let alone a deposit just to get service. So, if it means I have to call and speak to higher ups....I am gonna do it. If enough of us do it, I think that is what it may take for them to get something done.

Contact SAMSUNG!! Metro didn't make the phone.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 25, 2010

I went through the very same thing with my Sanyo Katana Eclipse. Replaced 4 times in 9 months due to varios malfunctions, NONE tied to abuse or neglect. Even though I was within my year, they said the 4th replacement is the last I would get.

I contacted the manufacturer, and guess what? My 5th phone sent FREE of charge direct to my home. I am with Sprint.

I would suggest getting away from Metro. I know they have the cheapest plans, but they have CRAP connectivity and CRAP customer service and management. Sprint is your next best bet for just a few dollars more.

You will need to contact SAMSUNG customer support and explain your dilemma. Don't let them brush you off either. Keep asking for someone else higher up in management if you have to. It is Samsung's policy that any phone is under warranty for 1 year, regardless of how many bad ones you get.

Good luck!!
