Metrocare Services in Dallas, TX is the epitome of cost-effective state-run mental health services. In an effort to keep costs and taxes low, Metrocare provides the bare minimum when it comes to treating clients. Metrocare clinics are staffed with nurse practictioners and social workers instead of psychologists and psychiatrists. Clients are seen for a total of FIVE minutes every TWO months!!! Basically when a client sits down with a "doctor" they are asked a couple of questions such as "How are you feeling?' and "Are you hearing voices?" They are then given a 2-month supply of medicine and an appointment to return in 8 weeks. If you need a form filled out by your "doctor" good luck getting them to do that.
