Consumer Alert. Unregistered (city and state) and uninsured "general contractor" Michael Athearn Omaha of DBA K & M Painting and Remodeling of Omaha Nebraska took our hard-earned family's deposit for a labor job and disappeared. My husband is pissed.
Another Omaha woman, elderly, reports paying him $4000 and he was a no show - disappeared. Same m.o. Took the money and ran. This senior citizen reports her friend was had by Athearn, too. Three victims we know of. All women!
Athearn appears to be preying on mothers and older women in Omaha?
The bad news is he is a convicted felon (Wisconsin) according to mugshots.com and confirmed with the Clark County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Department.
Athearn was convicted of felony theft over $2500, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.
Watch out. As of this date, Michael Athearn claims he is insured and Nebraska registered - but these are falsities.
The so-called general contractor also claims he has zero criminal record - another big lie.
Protect yourself. Don't take someone's word for it!
Make sure you Google each contractor you hire, verify their insurance, get references and check with Nebraska before hiring any contractor.
