On December 22, 2006 I purchased a brand new Xbox 360 from the Denver, Colorado Micro Center store. In addition, I purchased a Bronze 2-year warranty of $59.99 on the system. Today, I turned on the Xbox and soon after the system started up, my TV screen went blank and the circle in the front of the box started flashing red. I knew I had an immediate problem. I pulled out my warranty information and called the customer service number (1-866-700-7992) and explained the problem. The person I spoke with was familiar with the problem and told me to bring the system into the store. I immediately went to the store.
When I explained the problem to the repair manager he told me that nothing could be done to fix it and I needed to contact Microsoft directly. First of all, why didn't the person on the phone tell me this couldn't be fixed? Second and more importantly, what good is a warranty if the store can't live up to its end of the deal?
I purchased this warranty in good faith that if such a problem were to arise Micro center would fix it and now I'm being told just the opposite. This warranty is just a scam and I have been ripped off by Micro center. Now I have to wait to two to three weeks until Microsoft can fix this and my children won't be able to play their new games they were getting this Christmas.

#2 UPDATE Employee
Problem -- Bronze Plan

Speaking as an employee of Micro Center, the fault lay with you, sir. You purchased the Bronze Plan, not the Platinum Plan. Micro Center's bronze plan does NOT kick in until after the manufacturer's warranty expires.

Otherwise your 2 yr extended warranty would be up.
Anyway, almost every extended warranty doesn't kick in as primary coverage until after the manufacturer's warranty expires. But the clock starts running from the moment you buy it. (Which is another reason I don't buy extended warranties as a rule)
