Well here I am as promised to finish my saga with Micromedics. I faxed my letter to Micromedics rebuttal department as instructed and as promised I received a call from them today stating that they "must" take the word of their tech over my word. All I have to say is an incompetent tech sprung the plate on my laptop when they were working on it the first time and were too afraid to admit it now I'm not only out the money I paid these people for the extended warranty, now I'm either going to have to do without my laptop or take it to a local repair shop and pay to have something that a so called tech at Micromedics destroyed. All have to say to those reading this is, if you still deal with Micromedics after reading these reports there is no hope for you.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

ex-employee everything above this post is true.

AUTHOR: everydayredd - (United States of America)

I, too used to work there. It's one of the most ridiculous companies Ive ever worked for.

This is from my point of view working ther as a tech:

There are employees working on laptops in 95 degree weather, indoors (which causes major problems). Employees are allowed to bring lunches and drinks to their workbench and Ive seen the techs spill their drinks on the laptops, and try to cover it up. The tools they use are old, worn out and not properly working.

There are instances where the techs needed new thermal paste to put between the CPU processor and heatsink, only to find that the management never supply them, and i was told to use the old thermal paste that was already on the heatsink. what a joke.

There is dirt and dust all over the floors and on the tech benches as well. Also, they got stacks and rows of laptops in plastic bins laying all over the warehouse...that have not been looked at or diagnosed! Unprofessional work is what they are all about.

I am a A+ Certified Tech, and the employees that work there are NOT A+ Certified. There's a reason why all of the laptops come back for a re-work for the 4th, 5th and 6th time, because the employees that work there dont know what they are doing. There are times where ive seen technicians break lcd screens, front and rear panels, etc. just to open the laptop. When they put it back together, the screws are either missing, or put the wrong screw into the wrong hole and put dents on the laptops. Ive also seen technicians take a certain number of laptops, complete the paperwork, send it out to the customer not working, on purpose, just so that they can fill their quota for the day.

They also take used harddrives, cdrom drives, etc. put them in working laptops and charge the customers a lot of money, like they are brand new. For example, they take Harddrives from non working laptops, use certain programs to clean it (wipe out the data) and sell them as new harddrives!

They also take information from customers harddrives, and put it on their flash-drives they carry around.

The engineer department of this company is a disgrace. They do shoddy work at best and are overworked. They take logic boards from laptops and dont put them in anti-static bags and it takes them days (sometimes weeks) to give you back the logic board to complete the work. When you do receive it, 75 percent of the time, they either come back with the same problem, to not even working at all.

They got 2 managers who are in charge of Shipping and Receiving (not tech-related) and they try to tell you how to do your technical job or give out technical advise??? ridiculous.

Most of the employees that work there act like real snobs, from the front office to the warehouse. When you try to ask questions, management doesn't want to be bothered.

Who would want to work for a place like that? Not me, thats why i left. The bottom line is this: Do not use Micromedics to repair your laptop!!!!!

sad but true

AUTHOR: un happy worker. - (United States of America)

I will too be brief. I am afraid to say anything about this company, because of the threat that I would be sued if I bad mouthed it online, or in general. With this statement, I hope that helps out some of your questions.

Yet another source to back up this sad sad tale of a company

AUTHOR: loather of MM INC - (United States of America)

I shall keep this brief and to the point. I have also witnessed all of the previously stated poor business practices of this company. I gave up working at very stable position, with a quite large company to join the micromedics "family", which is what they like to call it...what a joke. This company is being run by spoiled brats who were born with silver spoons in their mouths and no one ever seemed to take them out. Too bad no one ever fed them business management skills. Hopefully one day they will choke on said spoons.

Angrily yours,
Burned Ex-employee

Illegal business at MicroMedics

AUTHOR: Ex Micromedics Manager - (U.S.A.)

I used to be a tech there for a few years and was a manager at a point.

Everything said before is true. MicroMedics pull illegal scams on their insurance companies like GE/Assurant, WACA, National Service Alliance and others in the past that are smart now and no longer do business with them anymore.

I was told to train techs, if there is ever a motherboard over a certain cost that the company would lose money, to make a fake liquid spill or a fake power surge. Even when I questioned them to make sure I heard the owner Matt and the warehouse manager at the time that I heard them correctly, they reassured me what they wanted to be done there.

This is the way they have done things since the first day I was employed with them. I am surprised the owner Matt Sheasby is not in jail.

Their catch phrase over there is, "Gut it like a fish!" What that refers to is if a high quote given to a warranty company, for one of these fake liquid spills or power surges and the company denied the repair, we were DEMANDED to take all the good parts that remained from that notebook and put bad ones in it's place.

Then MicroMedics has a stock of used parts that they later on charge the warranty company for using those stripped parts to repair another machine. When a warranty company denies the approval on a quote, MicroMedics still makes money on the repair, plus they are stealing good dvd burners, ac adapters, batteries, LCD's, inverters, RAM, CPU's. EVERY part in there and you name it, they will replace it with a bad one.

That company has been ripping people off for many years. One day they will get theirs...

The real story behind MicroMedics

AUTHOR: Lord Hexer - (U.S.A.)

Only a busted corner? Thats nothing for Micro Medics. They have been known to crack screens on laptops while playing catch in their NON climate controlled warehouse(read gets well over 100 degrees in the summer). They have also been known to hook multiple AC adapters up to each other and burn out boards and then call them power surges so they don't have to buy a replacement motherboard for laptops sent to them. They also fake liquid spills by mixing white out correction fluid with the circuit board cleaner. Not to mention other ways of faking damage like taking a lighter to motherboards, spilling liquids on computers. Also something that was never brought up, until the city they are in outlawed it, most of the technicians smoked indoors right over computers so who knows how much ash and smoke got into computers causing issues with optical drives and other components.

They are also a not a very good company to work for. They have been known on multiple occasions to either drive their best employees away(who went on to start their own companies), fire their best employees while keeping the mediocre ones. You are truly lucky to get your computer back in the condition you did knowing the shady stuff they have pulled over the years. Personally speaking I believe its only a matter of time until MicroMedics dies. Their owner Matt has embarked on some pretty crazy ideas like opening up satellite service centers with only a couple techs, like that will really make a difference. What I do know is they had multiple experienced people willing to go run those remote service centers but after they were basically going to screw those employees in the process of doing so, those employees decided to turn down the offer and most of them got fired BECAUSE they didn't go out. MicroMedics is an unethical company which is run probably worse than the state which its located in. Full of nepotism, the VP of the company is the owners cousin and the "CIO" is the brother of the VP.

The CIO of the company is also worthless. When he was hired, I will say the server room of the company wasn't in the best of shape but at least the rest of the network did work somewhat well, desipte a patchwork of systems. However he decided that he wanted to go with a wireless network for all the desktop computers. Remember when I said that this is basically a warehouse, which made it easy to run wires, no ceiling tiles no impossible pathways to feed wires through or anything, just a vast open space. But anyways he decided to take the hacked together but working wired network and convert all the desktops to wireless. What happened after that is the wireless network had poor reliability and for some reason the techs had to connect to the servers that they use for their work order tracking over the internet, because the CIO in his infinite wisdom decided to have 2 internet connections, one for the servers and the office personnel, and one for the techs. Unfortunately there was a bottleneck which made connecting to the server almost impossible at times due to slowness of one of the network connections.

In summary MicroMedics could be a great company, but its run by people with no real business sense, and who's owner is more concerned about signing a "pro" golfer to try to get a PGA tour card instead of doing his job, and doing stuff like employee reviews, or even seeing how his own business operates. And with the rest of his "management" or should i say manglement team its no wonder things are bad over there. No one knows what they are doing, the techs want to do good work but because of the incompetence in the management of the company things just keep getting worse and worse. I am sorry you had to suffer through your whole ordeal with MicroMedics, and honestly I know of employees there who won't even send their own computers there to get serviced on, thats how bad it is. Hopefully GE/Assurant will still honor your warranty now that Circuit City is gone but if they do you will probably have to suffer through another experience with MicroMedics.

Of course if you ask the MicroMedics "Management" Team about any of the above they will deny it calling it lies by a former employee, but isn't that in itself more proof that the above is true?
