Microsoft Online Service Bill.ms.wa ripoff, charges on discover card for $21.95 a month for at least 11 months. We have NO idea what the chargers are for. Internet Internet

Microsoft online servi bill.ms.net Wa is charging our Discover card for $21.95. They have been doing this for at the past 11 months. The were contacted about 8 months ago. We were told that they would credit our credit card for 3 months. Well we never got the credit and we are still getting charge $21.95 and we haven't been able to reach them sence. I hope you can help us out with this and get Microsoft to credit our card for at least 11 months of charges for $21.95.

I received a charge for $9.44. It appears to be the same type as the you guys have experienced. After looking it turned out that it was for X-Box live. You might want to figure this out for yourself.

seriously, call MSN. they can check usage on the account, and if there's no usage, you can get credit. if there is usage, then it will either be dealt with as fraud, or you have to suck up the charges, since you do sign an agreement the first time you access the service.
As for Chef's, response, msn can't trace it to her computer specifically, but they can see the IP address where it was logged on, the type of modem, and the exact usage.

you are misinformed on ip tracing. theye cant trace anything back to her computer. if she is on dialup her ip address changes everytime she logs onto the isp and if she is behind a good firewall at her isp theye cant trace her and if she has a firewall installed and configured right her computer apears invisable oh theye might get a ip address but it will do them no good. theye cant prove she was on the computer and that she was using the service. you cant assume someone did somethig and then charge them for it you have no profe im wrighting this. and most isp's wont give out that kind of info for a credit card charge dispute. whats going to happen is the bank is going to return the money to the woman and call it a loss and use it as a tax wright off and claim thhe loss was larger then stated. and microsoft is just going to stop charging her because she wont give them her new credit card number. ms might let a credit colection company buy it from them and try to persue it but shes just going to never respond and itll go by by.
itll cost more to investigate it then its worth.
oh by law theye must say theye investigated it but dont have to prove theye did and if all is pleased then noone will ask for proof.
so dont try to scare the crap out of some little lady with your gi joe fbi spy bs.

If you were charged by MSN and you did not:
1. Buy a computer w/in the prior eighteen months (before the charges began)
2. Sign up for a trial period w/ MSN
THEN:
Call 1-800-347-2683 and ask to file a fraud claim. By law, if you claim there is fraud on your account a credit company must shut down your account, replace it w/ a new number, and investigate the charges.
I cannot promise the investigation will be resolved in your favor, but while it is ongoing you will receive temporary credit for any charges not already reversed by MSN,and you will (because of the account number change) not receive any new charges from MSN.
IF, however, you did buy a new computer w/inthe last 18 months, keep in mind that many are "bundled" with automatic free trials OR FREE PERIODS of such internet software...someone in your househould might have started the trial, or sometimes (I think...might be mistaken here) you are automatically signed up for the free trial if you purchase a bundled computer via the credit card you use to pay for the bundle.
OR if you DID do a free trial but are having trouble cancelling it, contact 1-800-347-2683 and ask to open a consumer dispute regarding the MSN charges on your statements. Tell the representative the truth about the issue...if you lie and claim you never signed on to MSN but MSN traces the account back to your computer terminal (And yes, they can do this!!!) not just your name and address...then you will have to pay. However, if you tell the truth, that you have called to cancel the account because the trial was ending but have been unsucessful, Discover will tell this to MSN and they will likely cancel the account.

contact 1-800-386-5550. chose the options for cancellations. chances are, the account was setup through best buy or something. msn does have policies they have to stick to, but if it's their fault, they do the best they can.
