We bought TWO X Box Live consoles in the past year. Both the consoles had technical problems within the first year of purchase. We reported the first console to the Microsoft customer service department. Becasue we had a death in the family, returing the console did not take immediate priority. Soon after, the second console started having the same technical problems, so we decided to send both in for repair at the same time. Microsoft refused to repair the first console under warranty. We spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with a Microsoft-XBox representative, explaining that no one told us we only had 20 days to return the console. I also explained that the console didn't work, so it wasn't being used, and therefore it wasn't incurring further damage, and that it is irrelevant that the console wasn't sent in right away. Finally, I explained that their records show this console having technical problems soon after its purchase. The Microsoft representative told me that it was still going to cost $99 to repair it.

The bigger issue is that we bought TWO consoles within the last year, and BOTH have had technical problems that prevent us from using them. We bought the X Box Live consoles to save the extra $100 over the PS3. We ended up loosing hundreds of dollars on lemons!

We aren't trying to "get" anything out of Microsoft; we just want them to make good on their product. We simply want them to correct their error in selling us TWO lemons.

In this economy, no one can afford to waste money. And that is exactly what we did buying XBox
live. I encourage everyone to invest the extra $100 on PS3, as you will save a LOT of aggrevation and potentially hundreds of dollars. I also encourage everyone to consider the complaints that have been circulating about XBox Live. We were told that Microsoft had worked out all the "kinks" before we bought the consoles. Our experience proves that Microsoft has not.
