Pat Mende from Mid Central Realty, along with her daughter Wendy, do not follow through with what they say they are going to do.

We moved into a duplex a couple months ago. Pat told us in the ad we found the place on that we could do a month by month lease, but then when she brought it over, told us it must be a 6 month lease. She then promised to bring us back a copy which she never did.

The light fixture is broken, the kitchen sink clogs, we had no bathroom sink, the garage door is broken, and the heaters do not work.

We are paying more for our rent per month then other tenants who have bigger apartments. We have been trying to get ahold of Pat for over a month regarding all of these issues, and each time she ignores our calls. She will answer calls from other phone numbers though. Today, we tried to call her again and discovered she blocked our phone number.

Their rental properties may appear cheap, but they are not worth it. They will cheat you out of your money and lie continuously to get what they want.

Sorry that Wendy got attacked too

AUTHOR: Troy - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, February 08, 2019

First of all: sorry you did not leave that apartment happy. Frustration can often lead to words in anger and since this as 4 years ago things might have changed however I am a bit concerned in that from the complaints here there appears to be a few things missing. Poor Wendy gets tossed in but nothing is said about what she might not have followed through with just her name and that she doesn't. I get the lease complaint: sometimes initial statements can change based on changing policy etc. But what confuses me is you agreed to the lease and signed it presumably (since you would be very unlikely to be this unhappy if you decided before moving in that all of these things were just too much and you moved to the next option) and then you state "light fixture is broken, the kitchen sink clogs, we had no bathroom sink, the garage door is broken, and the heaters do not work." So are you saying that you were promised a bathroom sink and you agreed to sign the lease because of that promise? I am afraid I can't 'buy into that' and I want other readers to consider why. This is Minnesota, clogged sinks - broken heaters... that stuff can be frustrating to be sure but wouldn't you have known the garage door was 'busted' before you agreed to sign that lease? You would have right? So is your complaint that you agreed to accept a broken garage door.. maybe fix it yourself with her permission so it is usable perhaps? Or is it more likely that while living in this location you (or someone else) broke a non-broken garage door and your complaint is that Pat did not rush over and install a new one for you? As I have already said I do not know Pat.. yet... but I am going to consider this post as a bit unfair and missing some things that would really be important to know. How long did you stay at that location before you realized that you should not have agreed to because there wasn't a sink where you wanted it? And at what point did you blame poor Pat Mende for your decision that it wasn't a big deal turned into 'd**n it there is no sink!" Sorry to joke about an obvious poor experience but I am afraid I am going to have to ignore this post because I do not believe it. If my wife does decide to look at a property Pat has to offer I will take note if there is a garage door and if it does not work if that might be a 'deal breaker' for me before a lease is signed but I think I would have done that anyway without reading your post. Being named Anonymous when you were born has probably given you somewhat of an attitude so I understand. Good luck with all of that. If your rage has still not worn off after 4 years please update us but if you never reply I will assume this was an act of 'venting'. And I want to point out an inconsistancy that should really make any reader suspect foul play here: "Their rental properties may appear cheap, but they are not worth it. They will cheat you out of your money and lie continuously to get what they want. - We are paying more for our rent per month then other tenants who have bigger apartments. " Troy - Hmm... so you state that the fact is you agreed to the location because it was inexpensive and you thought you were getting an amazing deal - but you then complain that others payed less for the deal they got as if your deal was not 'as good'. I am not in real estate nor have I ever been a 'landlord' but I am 50 years old and for the first 40 rented a number of properties (but not that many because I usually stay in one location for the long-term) and the fact is any deal that you make (or myself) is made by you for you. Some landlord raise rents across the board because they are tired of hearing complaints about who pays what and why and all of that junk. I think that is wrong and it sounds like this Pat actually sticks to her agreements even longer than she is required to in Minnesota by code. Think of it this way: you move in in January of 2010 because the place is affordable, the area is nice, and you don't mind little things like a sink and mirror in the bathroom you can use the mirror in the bedroom to get ready. Lets say you are paying 800.00 per month Then in 2015 a person moves in and decides she agrees to the same thing you did but she is paying 900.00 per month. Is that unfair to her? Why would she have to pay more? Well again she doesn't have to pay more. She could pay 850.00 and you could pay 850.00 and there is no problem right? Do you understand my point here? NO it is absolutely great that you continue to pay what you are paying and the new tenant pays more to adjust to the market and inflation etc. It means that this Pat person rewards longevity with loyalty and any landlord that understands that concept has a leg up in my book. But again I haven't ever spoken to Pat and I might dislike her from the start but if I do it can't be based on reading your complaints but instead on the important thing between a landlord and a tenant - the relationship that must be cultured. You then gave quite a bit away by declaring she ignored your calls while taking others and eventually blocked you. There is only one way that is going to happen and any reader must admit it at least to themselves. No business person would ever block anyone unless that person was abusive in some way. It simply isn't how business is done in America. I absolutely can not believe that you tried to call your landlord (to deal with these issues) and you were blocked before you spoke to her. So what you are really saying there is "I called the landlord and complained, she tried to correct the situation but before she could I called her again and again and again so many times screaming louder and louder that she finally gave up and blocked me so she could work with her many other tenants who were more civil. Landlords take a huge risk considering all of the regulations and rights that tenants have in Minnesota. And tenants take a risk as well considering that landlords can be real jerks sometimes. Yet the fact is that a one sided rant such as this must be examined from a distance to determine if the complaints are valid. good day
