Midas ripoff (brake repair) Austin Texas
*UPDATE Employee: lug nuts
*Consumer Suggestion: the fault of whom ever installed that wheel the last time
I took my vehicle in for an estimate on break repair. We spoke on the phone b/c I could not be there when they were testing the breaks. We did not agree on a price so I decided to pick up my car.
When I arrived they told me that two studs that hold the tire on to the car had broken off while they were testing it. I aksed them what they were going to do to fix it and they said they would give me a 'discount' when I bought the replacmenet part. I asked him why he did not think they should pay for the whole thing, their response was 'the car was old and it would have happened anyway.' It's a 1999.

#2 UPDATE Employee
lug nuts

I dont understand why some of you customers "blame" the shop inspecting your "breaks" , for lug nuts that dont come off. I personally stop right there if it doesn't come off and inform the customer. How on earth do you blame that Midas shop for stripped or broken studs if they weren't the last ones to install the wheels? That makes absolutely no sense to me.
#1 Consumer Suggestion
the fault of whom ever installed that wheel the last time

Think it out...Keep in mind...When a stud is stripped and/or breaks, generly speaking, it is the fault of whom ever installed that wheel the last time. The lug nut was improperly installed or overtightened. Removing the nut will ruin the stud, no matter how carreful the tech is. Hope this helps.
