First, I would like to say thank you to all who have written something about this "company". Thankfully, I had some red flags before and after my "first interview".

When I got home from the interview, I spoke to my mom about how I didn't have a good feeling about what they had said to me or I should say lack there of, how all of a sudden I applied for a customer service position and then it turned to me running my own office, how they had no respect for my job now and pushed me to drop everything to come to this "second interview". After they called me and said they did indeed want to come at 9:30 Monday morning and "interview" till 6 at night, I did some reasearch on the interenet and found all these postings, thankfully, so I never went and wasted my time.

When I first got the email for a job interview I called to just get more information. I called and asked for Savannah Howard, the person who wrote me the e-mail and the receptionist said that she was unavailable but she could help me. I asked for her voicemail, because let's face it, what manager doesn't have voicemail? The girl told me that she would be busy all day and wouldn't be able to call me back. So I told her that I recieved the job interview email, but before scheduling, I needed more information about the job. The person snapped back at me " just so you know, you only recieved this email in response to our add online". I responded "that my be so, but a lot of companies do not put their name on job searching websites or descriptions of the job in depth". She changed her tune, and said that was understandable and began telling me all about the company, what clients they do work for and it ended there. I had to again ask what the job was they are looking to fill. She said that they have sales positions, customer service positions, and PR positions available, and asked what I was interested in. I said I was interested in the CS

1. She asked me what I was looking for and what pay I expected. After telling her, all she said was this was the job for me and said the pay scale was 25k to 35k for CS positions. When I again asked for more information about the job, all she could tell me was to come in for an interview and they would explain it all to me. So thats what I did.

On Thursday, I drove there for my interview. When I got there, there was 1 other person waiting for an interview. I was handed a piece of paper to fill out and they wanted to know my hobbies and car decription. The conference room door opened, and an applicant exited the room, and the other waiting was called in. The sign behind the receptionist said GQ Imports, not Midwest Marketing Concepts. But whatever. While I was waiting, I did take notice of the receptionist. I noticed that all she did was deal with applications, and answer phones that delt with applicants or possiable applicants. I also asked how many positions they have open and she said they had originally had 10, but now it was just down to a couple available. Seriously, not even 3 minutes later, the door opened and the applicant that was just called exited. I was called next. In the conference room, the lady doing the interview, didn't ask me anything about what I did at my previous jobs, or why she thaught I would be good for this position. No normal interview questions. She only asked me to tell her something that was not on my resume.

She then talked the rest of the time. I have been in retail sales for 10 years, and I can tell when someone has said something that is repeative and rehearsed. She said everything so fast I could barely understand her. I was able to catch that they were opening many new locations and they needed a manager for one of the locations to look over every operation and that I would benifit if I can learn every department.

She then told me of the second interview and that it would take place either on Friday or Monday. I do have a part time job and coming in the next day is too short of notice for me to not show up or not having my shift covered. She asked if I could do it Monday, and I said it would be better for me to have a couple of days to find someone to cover my shift. She said I would be called that evening between 5-7 to know if I would be advanced to the next interview.

Exiting the office there were 3 other applicant waiting to be interviewed. When I got home, I told my mom of my bad feeling, and she said I shouldn't just write it off, that I needed more information. I needed to know exactly what they did, and what this managment position was, and why I was being considered for that after only applying for a customer service position. So I called back a half hour after I lefted the place. Again, they only gave me a vaugue description of the job, but she assured me that it was an inside office management position. Then she lied to me saying that I did apply for the management position and not the CS one. Career builder has a history of jobs you've applied for and I never applied to such a position when I looked it up.

Aftering finding Ripoff report and reading the entrys, I also looked back at the carerr builder website as well as Monster. Going back as far as I could, Midwest Marketing Concepts seems to always be looking for either 10 - 15 employees. I even found an entry that was labeled 2 days ago. So unless they found 8 employees in the last 2 days, they were obviously lying to me.

I really hope people find this site and read it before they accept an interview with this so called Marketing firm. I am truly thankfull to all who have posted their story. I am very happy that I didn't up my shifts or comprimize my legitimate job, for this bogus "interview".
