Millenium Teleservices in Central City , Kentucky has been calling old employees that quit years ago to come back to work for them. i was contacted constantly by the Central City call center to come back to work there from september 2006 to january 2007.

In September they said they were closeing down to remodel for 30 days and that they had all new managers and that they wanted to make the call center "a nice place to work". I saw a sign outside that said 30 chairs available. I almost went back to work there and attended the unpaid 2 hour training class in october but changed my mind... afterall.... if it was a good place to work i would still be there! and if it was a good place to work so would most people in an underemployed area such as kentucky.

The truth remains and stands that Millenium Teleservices uses people to get sales but is not interested in keeping or retaining employees as its just easier to hire new ones all the time rather than provide health insurance and raises for regular full time employees. Since a large majority of people who can read and talk are able to get 'sales" then why bother with a having to treat the people they already employ right.

Today the sign outside Millenium Teleservices on 1/24/07 says that 15 chairs are available. Can it be that a community is tired of being used for sales for short term gain for Millenium Teleservices, aka Civic Development.... with no hope of a furture or of long term employment. The management itself at Millenium Teleservices has almost turned over completely at the Central City call center in the past two years.

I think it won't be long before the Central City call center closes down and if it doesn't it needs to! Also press releases when the Central City Call Center was opened indicated 200 employees would be hired in Central City. how many employees do they actually have? i've never seen but 30 at a time. Their recruiter and trainer a few months ago was actully a highschool student or someone of highschool age.

The currant managers at Millenium Teleservices can ride high for awhile , but they will be gone shortly also.... the way of the previous managers of the past 3 years. They have to already realize this themselves. Currently they are taking credit card applications for orchard bank.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Millenium Paintsville Kentucky office no better than others

AUTHOR: Milleniumsux - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 03, 2007

I worked at the Paintsville office for awhile and have considered going back. It has its problems like any other place of work and it does SUCK but it is better than flipping burgers. A lot of the people that work there wouldn't be employable other places (including some of the managers) and most could not pass a drug test. It is easy work (stressful but not sweaty). The only thing that would be easy for them to change is something that KILLS me about the place. It is one reason that I quit. Managers, don't go through your sections screaming while your TSRs are on the phone, it is distracting, not motivating. How many times have I lost my train of thought because of that nonsensical screaming jerk a** walking behind me up and down the aisle screaming "John Doe's got a sale, who's gonna help him out? Where's my next sale?!!!!!" This is complete bulls**t and the PCs can hear YOU SCREAMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, some of us who are not young anymore can't concentrate when some dummy is screaming at the top of their lungs. Also, standing up to try to get sales. How does that help? You can't even see the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have been on the phone, as most managers have, did screaming and standing help at all when you were slow getting a sale? I doubt it. I think it is a powerplay. See, I can make all the stupid telemarketers stand up, watch this, "Everybody on their feet!" This is soooooooooo stupid.

Been There, Went Through That

AUTHOR: Z - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Just like the main reporter, I do am an ex-employee of this particular company. The only complement that I have for CDG is that they pay resonably well for someone that was in high school at the time- other than that I do not have any more positive remarks for the company. I will now step on my soap box for this company; The management that I worked under were harassing, double sided individuals that would do anything to make the workers look bad. The first week that I did work on the job, I was the top caller- I done my job there (and not to brag, I did do it well), but I believe that it is conducive to an individual in a management position to try to motivate the employees and not to constantly harass the workers when a sale is not made. The art of reverse motivation (demotivation) does not work in any business.

I also do not like the business practices (which is one of two reasons why I left the company). The non-profit groups that Civic Development Group is hired by only recieves approximately 10 percent of the profits, the remaning 90 percent goes into CDG. Females are not treated fairly for this company as well. Ladies are kept in a different section of the building where they typically sell credit cards and credit protection/benefits, while the males are placed in the section where the non-profit fundrasing occurs. My hypothesis for this is primarily due to audible content- where males generally sound more of an authoritative figure (policeman, fire fighter, etc.) and females (sterotypically) have a more compassionate voice. Although the male employees were not allowed to state they are a fire fighter or a policeman- the deepness of voice was used to fool the consumer/donator that they were on the line with such. Females were generally paid less than males as well (males made roughly $8.00 per hour, while females made $6.00 per hour).

The second reason why I left was simply becuase of the nature of the individuals who were employed by the company. My first week on the job I was approached by a fellow employee who asked me if i would like some "tabs" (lortabs). Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that selling pharmaceuticals without a doctorate in pharmacy is illegal. For clarity, I did decline his offer. Several individuals also particiated in illicit activities while they were on the clock. During the breaks, I would go outside to mingle with the other employees that I knew-most were smokers. On a nice day that was about 70 degrees outside, two individuals went into a vehicle, and moved in the car to the furthest corner of the parking lot. The car was filled with smoke while they shared the item they were smoking- I don't think people generally share cigarettes with one another and constantly pass it back and forth. I will leave the reader to decide what was going on in the car. Along the topic of the moral standards of the employees, there was a manager that thought it would be humorous to flatten the tires on an employees car and to remove one of the wheels; I would have thought that such an action would be hilarious as long as the individual that removed the wheel and flattened the tires repared his doings, but he left the car owner on his own to replace the wheel and place air back in the tires.

After quitting from this organization, which was around November, I recieved a phone call on Christmas Day asking me if I would like to return. ON CHRISTMAS DAY! The last thing on my mind that day was the thought of returning to Millenium- I declined their offer simply on the bases that they did call me on Christmas while I was spending time with my family. I am sure there was a method behind their madness, my only assumption is that the Providence, KY office of CDG was that since it was Christmas, people are in a good mood and they would not want to turn down a job. (But...there is the old saying about making assumptions).

I regret to say that the Providence office of CDG is no longer in existance (sarcasm, what a bliss). When I passed the location that once proudly exemplified the ideal workplace, a used car lot now remains. I have heard numerous reasons behind CDG's departure from Providence, and the general concensus is that numerous people were caught doing/possessing bad things (drugs) on the property. Farewell Providence CDG, you may be missed by some, but not me. I do feel bad for those that held higher moral standards and used their employment primarily for a source of income, but other than that- they had what was coming.

[Steps off soap box]
