I bought a 57" projection screen TV from Mitsubishi Digital Electronics. The model number was WDY-577. This televison came with a one year warranty and you could purchase a two year warranty for an extra $500.00.

After three years the televison projection lamp broke and had to be replaced. It cost me $200.00 to do this. A couple weeks after that the optical engine part number 938P075010 began to break down causing tiny, bright, white, pixels to appear on the viewing screen.

As the days progressed more and more pixels became brilliantly white distorting the screen and making it impossible to watch. I called Mitsubishi customer service to find out what the deal was with this piece of crap TV. I gave them the infomation that they asked for and they told me that they would help pay for some of the repairs.

I did not want to spend anymore money on this piece of crap TV because it had already cost me $3,700.00 total. I asked them how much they would be willing to pay to help me with the repairs and they said they would tell me as soon as I paid for a televison diagnosis by a TV repair company of their choosing which had ties with their Mitsubishi Digital Electronics company.

I did what was asked of me and took my TV to the repair shop and paid another $90.00 out of my own pocket. They told me that the optical engine was broken and that it would cost $1,014.10 to repair and that the repair would probably be only a temporary fix.

I asked the TV repair guy why did this happen. I said, "I thought Mitsubishi was suppose to be one of the top Japanese companies in the world with dependable and quality controlled electronics". He didn't answer me he just pointed to a hidden label on the back of my TV that said MADE IN MEXICO.

I called the customer service line at (800) 332-2119 and spoke to the representive in charge of comsumer relations. I gave them the information that was given to me over the phone and now that I have complied with what was asked of me I asked them once again how much they would be willing to pay to help me out with the repairs.

They told me that it was impossible for them to give me an answer without seeing the diagnosis for themselves so I mailed them the documention, fax the documention twice, and have personally told them over the phone the part number, the model number, the date of manufacter, the retail cost to have the part professional installed and still they flat out refuse to give me even a hypothetical answer to my question.

I have called back six time already and they continue to hand me off to a new person everytime and each time they deny that they have recieved any documention from my faxes or from the mail that I have sent. All I wanted was just a guesstimate to the % of repair cost that they would pay before I spent that insane amount of money on repairing my TV. If they didn't intend to pay at least 50% I was not going to pay to get it fixed. I will just have to by a new TV from another competitor.

Currently my TV is still in the shop and I have been without television for 2 weeks. The repair man has called my house and has asked me to either pick up the broken piece of crap or to pay to get it fixed.

Mitsubishi is clearly giving me the run around and they are lying to me when they say that it is impossible for them to give me a straight answer after all the information that I have given to them.

Mitsubishi was once a powerful, honorable, and respectable Japanese company but it should be clear by now that they have traded those enduring qualities for the sake of greater profit. You would think that they would have choosen to find other ways to profit other than closing down shop in their own country and sending those jobs to Mexico for cheap labor which produces piss poor product. Well I guess we know now were Mitsubishi's loyalty lies, which is not to the customer.

I can tell you that if you are thinking about buying a Mitsubishi televsion that you are a fool just as I was a fool. I will never again purchase anything be it car, TV, electronics or any other product sold by Mitsubishi. They have offically lost me as a customer because they produce crap products.
