MNI Credit Report Credit Monitoring Scam Canoga Park California

I ordered a "free" credit report from this company over a month ago. Today (a month later), I noticed they snuck a $11.95 charge onto my Bank of America debit card. I specifically remember opting out of everything this company sold with their credit reports. I specifically remember opting out of their credit monitoring service.

I called their customer service number and politely informed them that they charged my credit card without authorization and would need that money back. They told me that by using their site to get a free credit report, I agreed to let them charge my credit card every month for credit monitoring. I politely informed them that I'd signed up for no such thing. They told me that I would need to call back and "cancel" this service that I'd never signed up. I politely informed them that the next call I was making was to my bank to dispute the charge. They told me to go right ahead and do that.

I called back and asked for a supervisor and was hung up on. I called back six more times and was hung up on every time. After more than an hour, I finally got a hold of a supervisor who rudely repeated the same information as before but let me "cancel" the service going forward. I recorded every call with them to prove this.

Next I called Bank of America and filed a merchant dispute against them. Bank of America returned the money to my account immediately. I hope MNI knows that every time you dispute a charge, the merchant gets charged a $25 penalty regardless of whether the dispute is legitimate or not. I hope MNI keeps charging my credit card so that I can file a dispute every month and cost them twice as much money as they're costing me.
