I purchases a used 2003 Spyder Eclipse in May of 2004. It sounded like a great deal but it has turned out to be a complete nightmare dealing with Modesto Mitsubushi. I have only head horror stories from this dealership eversince. My story is familiar from those posted here. I had a trade in on which I still had a 5000 dollar loan, only MM told me that it was 4000 dollars.

Three weeks later they called me to collect the money and threatened me and told me that they would show me "where I signed" that if the pay off was higher I had to come up with the money. Luckily I know someone who sells cars and told me how by doing that the contract would have to be changed and it would no longer valid. After calling me over and over at work MM said they would eat the 700 dollar difference.

My second problem was with MM not sending the paper work fast enough and having car payments on my old trade in being pulled out of my bank at the same time that payments for my new spyder were being received. After not returning my phone calls for a few days to talk to the "finance manager", I went in person and told them that they had to show me something and that I would not leave empty handed or without and answer. Again MM tried to show me the paper work where "legally" they were in the right. It was only after threatening to bring down a lawyer to clear the matter that they showed me a copy of the check.

My hopefully final problem now is that they license plates are taking forever to come in because they are lagging on turning in the paper work. It wasn't until a month later they sent it in to DMV. I know now of their shady practices and how they handle their customers. It has been my worst car buying experience of my life. I am 23 years old and was 22 at the time and it was my thirdy car purchase and first used car ever.

I have now known how this is very common in how they handle their deals. I have heard nightmare stories of other people. I also know that no banks locally will give out loans anymore because of their high repo rates. Whatever you do, DONT BUY YOUR CAR AT MM!

After reading all the posts about Mitsubishi and all the people who are having problems with Mitsubishi, I don't think it is limited to just Modesto but nationwide. That no interest, no payment for 1 full year was just a big scam. They just loaded it up onto when you did start making payments
