Monitronics Masters of Double Talk and Deceit Chicago Illinois

I've been trying to close the estate of my late elderly uncle who lived in another city and had a contract with Monitronics through another, more local company, Maximum Security. The later was actually the installing company. They do not communicate with each other very well. I sent a letter canceling service and a check to buy out the contract which had just been bought shortly before my uncle's death. I received a letter from the installing company, Maximum Security,stating that the contract was cancelled as of Dec. 1, 2007 and "paid in full and no others moneys were due from this account". But, I continue to get bills for service from Monitronics. When I called Monitronics on 1/16/08 they told me that their records show a zero balance but can't send me any documentation on that. Today, I received another bill from Monitronics, statement date, 1/19/08, for service in January and a late fee! They are very hard to get a hold of, even though they proudly announce, while you are waiting to be helped, that they are "open 24/7 to service you". STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! If you have to have a alarm systems research the installer AND the monitoring company, thoroughly.
