On 11/07/09, I took my car to this Monro location because I had to push hard to get my brakes to work.  Also, I knew that it was time to replace my tires.  I had a Monro credit card from a previous repair, in another city, and asked the store manager, Chuck Hunter, to check and see if the card was still activated.  He did and informed me that I had $1100 worth of credit available.

After checking my brakes, Chuck called me and told me that my repairs in addition to new tires would come in just under $1100.  Amazing; see the paragraph above; I had $1100 open on my Monro card.  The total for brakes came to $457.94.  Total for tires, transmission flush/fill, and oil change came to $585.73.  I put the entire amount on my Monro card.

The NEXT day, I looked at the tag indicating my last oil change, and noticed that they did NOT change my oil.  I called Chuck, after much deliberation (this over an oil change after collecting $1043 from me), he told me to bring the car in.

Two weeks later, the brakes failed me as I was driving to work.  I immediately took the car to Monro, where Chuck informed me it was a problem with a tiny part.  He did not apologize for the inconvenience; in fact he was quite rude.

Two more weeks go by and my car is bone dry  -  no oil!!  I took it to another Monro location in Springfield, OH as I had no confidence in neither Chuck nor in his team.  The techs in Springfield said it did not appear as though the oil had even been changed as indicated on my customer account screen.  Interestingly, they also informed me that Travis Machado, the tech who did the brake "work" and "oil change" on my car was fired.  They did not go into detail, I did not ask as I felt they wanted me to know that there was a problem with Mr. Machado but did not feel like they should elaborate.

I moved to MN in April 2010.  I have noticed my brakes failing again and lots of noise.  I contacted Monro corporate and was told to take the car to a Monro.  There are no Monro Muffler/Brake locations in the state of MN. I took the car to a certified Chevy mechanic who looked at the brakes and determined that NO new parts were installed on my car in November of 2009.   He is basing this determination on the wear indicators on my brakes.  He replaced the brakes and rotors and I have now paid twice for brakes on this vehicle. 

My mechanic here in MN called Chuck in Huber Heights, OH and Chuck refused to speak with him about this vehicle.  In fact, Chuck hung up on him.

My husband contacted the District Manager, Kevin, and was told to fax over our documents of both repairs and they would "make a determination".  At this time, we are waiting for the "determination".

Monro Muffler/Brake promises "Brakes for Life".  Pretty confident for a company who hires incompetant techs and managers.  I would be interested to hear from any other consumers in the Dayton/Huber Heights, OH area who were also scammed by this Monro.
