Montgomery County, Pennsylvania,  Abington and Cheltenham police department speeding ticket scam.

This is a revenue enhancement scam. The police departments paint two white lines across the street and post signs stating the area is a speed enforcement zone.
The streets that are chosen have insanely low speed limits of 25 miles an hour.

When the unfortunate motorist is pulled over, they are told they are slightly over the speed limit, just enough to be a State offense. This triggers four or five different fees which are supposed to be sent off to the State government. 15 miles over the speed limit creates a $155 ticket!

Now if you are thinking how can a cop time a car to an accuracy enough to require a State set of fees? Easy they just pull over cars that are going faster than 25 and issue a ticket. Remember a cops testimony always trumps that of a citizen, especially when the government is going to collect $155 for doing nothing. This is all the while, while a burglar is breaking into someones house.

Now just in case you think, you are going to challenge the ticket and win the case based on a challenge of the accuracy of clocking ones speed in this manner.

Well here comes the real scam! When you go to court your accusing officer takes you into a private room. He explains to you that no matter what you say, or what evidence you have, the judge is going to rule against you.

When you lose a State mandated 20% surcharge per year for three consecutive years will be added to your insurance premium, and 3 points will be recorded against your driving record. Now for the scam, he tells you that if you agree to plead guilty, the officer will state that you were only going 5 miles over the speed limit. This eliminates the nature of the offense, the State is not involved, 90% of the fine remains in the local township, and no insurance surcharges or points go to the motorist!

So what has changed! Let's sum this up, the cop agrees to lie under oath to fix your ticket so the State of PA can be ripped off for 90% of the fees, and a nasty speeder gets away with a serious speeding offense!

Or is all of this just one more government scam to tax you out of you hard earned money?

What earthly good does it do the residents of these areas to ticket a few speeders?
No good because the police only ticket near the end of the month when the township is running low on money. The rest of the time motorists rip through the area without a concern.

I used to think these officers where hero's, not anymore they are just scam artists.
They are no different than any other corrupt politician, just in it for a buck.

Btw, speeding ticket amount for 4 billion dollars poured into government coffers.
