I placed the order to ship my car from Arkansas to Tennessee one month ahead. Montway only connected me about online deposit payment. Because i was told it is a door-to-door service so I left the car key to my backup person and left town. After the first pickup date, they called me saying the trucker assigned misunderstood about the regions and was not able to take this order and they will look for other truckers for me. So far, okay. Then they called me saying that they found a trucker who's willing to take the order but charging me $50 dollars. I could not understand and asked them to fix it because dealing with truck driver should not be my job. Then they complained to me that " do you know that nobody wants to come to Arkansas to ship your car?" What??I told them clearly in the contract from where and where to ship the car, no problem at that point and order taken and price fixed. Then I need to raise up the price to attract and beg the trucker to take my order? Yes, that's what I did. I was traveling outside and left the car with my friend. I didn't know how this industry worked but I needed to get this done soon cause I need my car when I arrive Tennessee. So I added on $20 and the trucker took the order. Then the trucker arrived Arkansas, but because he was driving a huge truck and not able to park around my parking lot so he asked my friend to take the car to Sam's Club. My friend did. Then when he picked up my car, he said he would arrive the second day but would not able to wait for my flight arriving 3pm next day. On the website of Montway, clearly saying it will take 3-5 days to ship at 700miles distance. But the trucker seemed to have his own routine and not worked for Montway and didn't follow the contract or montway' s promise at all. Then he started to complain on the phone about "nobody wants to come to Arkansas", I got pissed off and replying " this is not my business " because I don't understand again why I got all the blame of buying a service!! Why it is my fault!!! Both the company and trucker took the order knowing clearly about the address information. Then the tucker got pissed off and did not want to take the car. I had to apologize about my attitude and let me keep the order because I did not want to bother my friend again and again and I wanted my car and my stuff delivered soon. Then he took it after his self-esteem got satisfied. Then he informed me he would drop off my car at the target nearby the airport. So I had to take a Uber to go and get my car. That's the "door -to-door" service I got, door of Sam's to door of Target. I have no idea where to complain or report but here and whether there is any justice for the treatment and service I got. I will admit I am unlucky but I do not wish anyone ever suffer this pain.

Door-to-door isn't really Door-to-Door

AUTHOR: JP - (United States)

I have hauled cars for Montway and I can tell you how they and most others work.

YOU may get a contract with terms and conditions that you agree to but the driver does not work for Montway. The driver will get a dispatch sheet with a different set of terms and conditions. The driver has NO way to know what you have discussed with the sales agent nor does he know what you may have been promised, including what schedule you may have been given. Average transport takes between 3 and 5 days but that is just average. For example, if you were the last car loaded and the first car to deliver, it might get there faster.

The broker can promise the world but the driver has nothing to do with what was promised as your contract is with Montway, not with the driver from another company. Montway will under-bid to get the business and people will book with them because they think they are getting a great deal. Sadly the great deal falls though. Not because no driver wants to go to a specific town. They just don't want to go for no profit. A cheap price means nothing if no one will move the car. In auto transport, there are times you just have to go with the higher price if you want the service

DOOR - TO- DOOR sounds like the truck is coming to your home but in auto transport it really only means you won't have to driver 50 miles away to a holding terminal. A 10 car carrier is not designed for residential streets. There could be weight restrictions or turns too tight for the type of carrier and trees that could scrape the cars on the top ramps of the carrier. For these and other reasons of safety the carrier should park at a large parking area near you such as a mall or a Target or WalMart.  This is for the safety of all the cars on the truck as well as the driver.

I hope this helps to explain how things can go so wrong with your transport.
