Monty Merrell and others scammed me out of my $1,000 rental deposit. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HIM OR ANYONE ELSE.

In early 2012, I found a great spot to rent in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. As an internet marketer I wanted to stretch my wings and move from San Diego to some place a little exotic.

I found Monty Merrell at a coffee shop and he seemed nice. He showed me a few properties and we ended up doing a deal with a woman (to be named in another post.) who represented the owner of the property. (who will be named later.)

While the property was beautiful, the owner lived above and with the way the building was built, sound was very much a problem even if I wasn't that loud. The owner ended up wanting us to part ways and while I was out of town, he put undue pressure on my friend who was staying there with threatening to call the police and change the locks. (All of which is highly illegal as there are major laws in place to protect tenants from landlords like this.)

My friend took all my stuff out and returned the keys. I was told that the deposit of $1,000 was held by the escrow company but now Monty Merrell is retracting that statement. The reason is because he took the money and after just getting off the phone with him, he acknowledged that they owed me the deposit but that he's too broke to pay me. That is not an excuse and not acceptable in my book. This was a DEPOSIT and should NOT have been spent by him and the other agent (who will  be named in a later post.)

Monty Merrell can not be trusted. He is reckless. He is a liar and with him being broke as he said himself, there's nothing I don't think he wouldn't do in order to make a quick buck from an unassuming tourist, renter, buyer, or seller.

If you run into Monty Merrell and hear his Texas drawl coming out, turn and run fast in the opposite direction.
