My family and I recenly stayed at the Motel 6 in Canton, MI. for a wedding. What a horrible experience it was!! We had 6 rooms total and all 6 of them were a disaster.

The rooms were dirty, hair in the beds & in the bathroom. Used shampoo & soaps in the showers. 3 of the 6 toilets were broken, and the front desk offered no help. They didnt handle our reservations properly either. We had to wait for out rooms, and then they continued to move us from room to room. There was no clock in the room no tissue's no nothing!!

It was a disaster we were forced to sleep on top of the covers due to nasty dirty sheets & burn holes in the comforters. What a horrible experience. Motel 6 needs to be shut down!!!

Not What They Use To Be

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 12, 2004

Stayed in a couple of Motel 6's over the last week. Motel 6 USE to be a nice place to stay FOR THE MONEY. Not anymore. The Motel 6 in Gallup NM, the front desk lady(Tuddy) was very rude to the person checking in before me and to me. He asked where a good place to get a sandwich was. She rudely said"There's a Taco Bell across the street". I didn't ask and she gives us a 10% coupon for a diner, 1 block down the street. Now the weird thing is all around the Motel 6 in Gallup are a number of brand new nice motels at the same price. Motel 6 was half full, all the others were full. I stayed at this Motel 6 in Gallup, 11 years ago. Hadn't changed much. Checked into the Motel 6 in Albuquerque, was assigned a room, went to the room, it hadn't been cleaned, was assigned a new room. Motel 6 is trading on it's name of the past. Next trip I'll know better.

management does not always dictate the service and quality

AUTHOR: Kasey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 11, 2004

I agree that service and cleanliness are part of managements responsibility. BUT...if you have an owner who refuses to put money back into a hotel(burn marks on spreads and other capital issues like furniture and carpets) as far as quality of items in a room or what the place looks like than its not management. The guests see it as poor management but really its poor ownership. Motel 6 is mostly if not all corporate owned and not sold as an independant franchise-so its easy cleaning up with corporate backing you. It also seems that motel 6 waits until the hotel is ready to be condemned than it does a reno on it.
And as always people seem to demand a 5 star hotel at a 1 star price-I don't get it!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Rebuttal

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 07, 2004

Motel 6 is really the same as many other motels and businesses. The management of the motel dictates the service and quality of product you will receive.

I was a manager of a Motel 6 that was absolutely horrible when I started. I wouldn't even let my mother stay there to visit. I was able to clean the property up and hire some good people. These new employees had the same attitude I did - do for your customer as you would like to have done for you.

One thing I can tell you is that Motel 6 is a BUDGET chain. This is a "no-frills" motel. You don't get shampoo; tissue; clock; etc. What you get is bed; towels; and soap. This is why their rates are so much lower than any other motel.

Kindly note, I have worked at a couple of other hotels at supervisory levels. You would certainly know the brand - but they are not always as clean or hospitable as you would hope. Again, the attitude comes from management and filters downward.
