I flew into Denver for my mothers open heart surgery. Due to the fact that she lives in a small Nebraska town and had to come to Denver for her surgery, I needed to find a motel to stay at for 8 to 12 weeks, one that was close to the medical center she was at, one that she could stay at when released by the hospital until she could safely go home and one that would be cost effective. I went to the Motel 6.

The desk clerk left a lot to be desired, and in hindsight I realize that if the rooms held the appearance that she did, I would not be able to stay in one anyway. She looked as if she had slept in her clothing. Her hair was unkempt, I do not think she owns a tooth brush. She was certainly out of place in the customer service field.

I arrived at the motel about 12:30 in the morning. The lobby was closed so I went inside to the night window. There was a man standing there with a pit-bull on a chain speaking to the desk clerk. As soon as I opened the door, the dog lunged for me, growling and barking. It caught my coat but did not rip it. The owner of the dog gave the chain a swift jerk and said to me "d**n, you can't be moving like that around my dog, he will tear you a new a$$".

He took the dog and stood by the door I had just came through maybe 10 feet from the check in window. Not far enough away from me. I asked the desk clerk if she could ask the man to move the dog away from me, maybe take it outside. She sucked her teeth, looked at me up and down and said that she has known that dog since it was a baby and it was harmless she then added, "What are you afraid of? The dog or the black man holding the dog." I have no idea what made her say something like that.

She flat refused to ask the man to step outside with the dog until I could get checked in. People were opening their doors to see what was going on in the hallway. She simply did not care that this vicious animal was not only trying to get to me, but was barking non stop waking up customers as well. I pointed that out to her, she said "F*** them if they don't like it they can get their sorry a$$es out of my motel."

The dog took another shot at me and the desk clerk as well as the owner started laughing as if someone had told a funny joke.

I asked to speak to the manager. She told me that she is the onsite manager, the ONLY manager and then asked me if I had a problem with that.

When I asked for the manager the guy did take the dog outside. Indicating to me that he did not want to get into trouble or to get her into trouble.

I asked the desk clerk for her name, she did not have on a name tag. She told me I did not need her name.

I saw the man and the dog coming down the hall from the opposite end. He went around to another door and was coming back. When he got to the end of the hall I was at, he stopped in front of a door that someone was in about 15 feet from me. The dog was still barking and the person inside the room opened the door.
The guy with the dog told him to get back in his room or he could get bit. She had just told me that she had known this dog since it was a puppy and it wouldn"t bite anyone.

I turned to walk away and she said, Have a good night Ms. Dog the Bounty Hunter I could not believe what I just heard. Both of them were laughing as hard as they could over that remark. I asked her to repeat what she had said. She said," You heard me the first time." Under her breath she said "Are you deaf you white h*o."

I called the next day (Saturday) to try and speak to a manager, as I knew that the person from the night before was seriously lacking a lot of things it would take to be a manager, personal hygiene first on the list. I was told the next day that the manager can not be disturbed on the weekend unless it was an emergency such as a "fire, homicide or drug bust".

I left my number; he/she has never called me back. I also called Motel 6 direct at 800-466-8356. I told the customer service rep. exactly what had taken place. She was very aloof and actually asked me what I had said or done to give the desk clerk the impression that I am prejudice. I told her that the fact of the matter was that I was not the one that was prejudice; it was the clerk and very possibly her friend with the dog. Realizing I had a good point she dropped that subject all together.

Trying to get the conversation headed off into another direction she informed me that Motel 6 has a pet policy; 1 pet per guest room.

I pointed out to her that the dog was not in a room, had it been it would not have been trying to attack me.

These people are something else. From the slob looking desk clerk to the manager that will not return phone calls.

The parking lot was dimly lit, it has a lot of trash and broken glass in it; the garbage can by the night check in door was over flowing into the path of the door; the first floor appeared to be a non smoking floor judging by the no smoking signs on the door, yet it reeked of stale cigarettes and that old motel smell. The hall had trash in it by doors, dirty sheets and towels we sitting right along side if the Just a nasty place to be, with people working there that are not up to par by any human standard.

Let's see you were there but called the manager?

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 27, 2007

I think you are blowing alot out of proportion or just making this up. You are probably a racist and the desk clerk read you as such. If things happened the way you stated I would have waited around and talked to the management in person. The heck with this phone call stuff.

The man with the dog was probably a friend of the desk clerk hanging around to make sure she was okay or maybe a security person.

Sounds like they had a great deal of fun with you. Please inform us all of the docket number for the court case.

A Little Understanding Is All

AUTHOR: Dick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 25, 2007

Lousiana Keel, if you don't have an ulterior motive for blasting abused travelers, you're displaying a certain level of naivety - how old are you? Do you travel much? What are you doing cruising a travel consumer complaint site? You talk like a kid who's either never left the bayou or is a retread '60's peacenik with flowers in his hair.

=== In this case the lady was attacked by a dog, insulted, discriminated against and overall treated poorly all before she even checked in. The normal person would want to know why you would stay in a hotel that treated you that way.===

Is there a slight glimmer of intellect deeeeeep within the heart of you that can detect a hint of how totally, totally outrageous this is?!?!?

Well anyway sir, I beg to differ with you: the normal person would want to know what in the hell a company (Accor) was doing allowing one of their franchisees (Motel 6) to have this reckless desk clerk be rapping with his buddy while he's holding a vicious pit bull in the lobby of this supposedly house of hospitality while he's supposed to be greeting people with a smile - not fangs, and take their reservations.

I hope L.A. Kathey does pursue this matter and does sue the buzzards like I did; if enough of us get together, Accor/Motel 6 will get serious about Guest Relations; and as for you sir, take the flowers out of your hair, smell the roses and get off the backs of vacationers who just want to do the same.

Accor Employee?!?

AUTHOR: Keel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 23, 2007

d**k, instead of insulting everyone and thinking we're part of an Accor Hit Squad why don't you look at what everyone posted. We all asked "why would you stay?", how is that being a hit squad?

Look at your case d**k: You stayed in a room that you felt you paid to much, the manager and desk staff didn't agree and you filed reports all over the place.

In this case the lady was attacked by a dog, insulted, discriminated against and overall treated poorly all before she even checked in. The normal person would want to know why you would stay in a hotel that treated you that way.

As far as being an Accor Employee, try again. I am not affiliated with motel 6, accor or any of their brands. Now go and work on defending your own lawsuit.

Sacre Bleu!

AUTHOR: Dick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Ah yes, Houston Margaret, Beverley Hills Tallulah, San Antonio Tom & Lousiana Keel, the same fearsome foursome who attacked me; don't sweat them, Kathey, you've got a legitimate complaint and I hope you pursue it beyond just posting here.

They and a few other regulars will come out against anyone who has a complaint against Accor. If the roof fell in on you in your room, they'd call you an idiot and tell you you shouldn't have been in bed at the time.

Accor has hundreds of furious guests buzzing around like angry hornets which is all so unnecessary. If they would take Guest Relations beyond sending out a form letter (I got 6), like having the manager apologize and give out a chit for a complimentary stay, the furor would die down overnight.

Having a hit crew to discredit disgruntled guests is so - French.

Sounds like quite a tale

AUTHOR: Tallulah-phoebe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 12, 2007

Why didn't you simply LEAVE the moment after the dog lunged at you and you realized that perhaps this was a less than savory place to stay? You wouldn't seriously consider staying at such a place for 8-10 weeks now, would you?

Also why did you remain in the area, instigating a confrontation with these people?

The mature, appropriate thing to do would have been to LEAVE, find a hotel elsewhere, and let everyone go about their lives.

Why on Earth did you stay?

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 12, 2007

I understand that you wanted inexpensive lodgings, but if the motel was as bad as you described and your treatment by its staff was that rude, why would you put yourself and your mother in such a situation?

I am hoping you left out the part of your story in which you packed up and left the next day. I certainly would not have given such a place my business nor put my or my family's safety in jeopardy.

Why Stay?

AUTHOR: Keel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 12, 2007

Why would you stay after you were attacked by a dog, insulted and discriminated against, treated rudely, given poor service by the manager and desk staff as well as Motel 6 corporate, not to mention the smell and looks of the hotel that you described? I'm sure there were other hotels near the hospital that you needed to be at.

Have you tried calling the manager back or going down to the desk to talk to him/her?

YOU SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT

You should have left and found a Motel 8. At least there you would have got a hot free breakfast every morning!!
