I responded to a solicitation and met with a representative of Motion Pictures, Inc. on November 1, 2002, about the company's offer to provide modeling opportunities to qualified young women.

The meeting was with Mr. Richard Shaw, representing Motion Pictures, Inc., at his office in Annapolis, MD.

I left his office after completing an "interview", was told that Motion Pictures, Inc wanted me to become affiliated with them, and paid a $5 cash deposit for Motion Pictures to provide me with a modeling package that included "testing (portfolio shoot), workshop training, website, head shots and comp cards." I was advised that this package would cost me an additional $491.

I was given a receipt for my $5 payment and a Basic Interview Sheet. No documentation whatsoever was provided indicating there was a further agreement with Motion Pictures Inc. or the terms of such agreement, except the verbal indication that I would be receiving a package of services that would subsequently cost me $491.

Upon returning home I changed my mind, and the next day called Motion Pictures, Inc., and asked to speak with Richard Shaw and advise him. I was told he was "unavailable." I left a message with the Motion Picture representative answering the call that I did not want any affiliation with Motion Pictures Inc., was not pursuing the modeling opportunity and was cancelling any agreement. My message was recorded and I was told that Mr. James Stevens would call back. He never called back.

The following day I made the same call, was again told that Mr. Shaw was unavailable, again left the same message. Neither Mr. Shaw nor Mr. Stevens ever called back, I received no further communication from the company, and no service was ever rendered. I assumed the matter was closed.

In short, after the initial meeting on November 1, 2002, Motion Pictures Inc. never initiated any further communication with me, nor did it nor rendered any service or value in exchange for my $5 payment.

On December 10, 2002, however, Motion Pictures, Inc. issued an invoice to me seeking $491 in payment for unspecified services. Motion pictures sent an additional invoice on March 4, 2003.

On April 2, 2002, A&S Collection Associates, Inc. issued the first of three collection notices to me seeking $491 as a debt collector working on behalf of Motion pictures, Inc. A&S is located at P.O. Box 395, Williamstown, VT 05679. Telephone (802) 433-2100 or (800) 660-6642.

I repeatedly called both Motion Pictures, Inc. and later A&S about the invoices, and their representatives insisted on payment and would not discuss the merits of the matter. In both cases, I advised the representative that I had no agreement with Motion Pictures, Inc., that no debt was owed, and that I would not pay.

In September 2003, I discovered that the alleged debt had been reported to the credit reporting bureaus and was now on my credit record as a bad debt. To this date, and despite my best efforts, this debt has not been removed. As recently as last week A&S has refused to discuss the matter with me and will only be satisfied with payment. I asked them to send me a copy of what they SAY I had sign to OKAY them charging this to my credit, and have still, after all this time never received it! Why? Because it DOES NOT EXIST!!

I have found others online that have had the same issues with this company and maybe if we can join together we can all complain enough to the right people and we can put them out of buisness. They have been taking advantage of young men and women for TOO LONG!!!
