We contacted United States Van Lines about a move from Colorado to Pennsylvania in August of 2011. With the price agreed upon and dates established we paid a fee to guarantee the pick up of our items in Colorado and delivery date of our items in Pennsylvania on the dates we requested.

On the date they were to pick up our items in Colorado we received a phone call saying they didnt have a driver and how set were we on the dates we had paid for. We told them we were solid on the dates.
United States Van Lines sent out a company from Denver called Relo. They showed up in a small truck with their diesel mechanic as the head mover for the day. With him were two other men but they had to hurry because one of the men were due back at the halfway house on time. I caught one of the men opening a sealed tote and before I could respond he shoved an arm full of shelves into my chest and demanded I pack them.

The movers drug our piano across our wood floor after we had told them not to and lost parts storm door. As they left some of our belongings were tied to the outside of the truck. They had also left behind in the house some trash and large boxes. We would later find out we were charged for those large boxes because the movers claimed to have packed some items.

When our items were not delivered on time we started calling and we were told our items were being stored in a wharehouse belonging to MCI. Upon contacting them we were told when they had a truck heading east our belongings were sure to be on it.

The first truck of our belonging arrived late and some of the items were taken off the truck broken and the driver noted it on our paperwork. He also at the time asked us about some other items he had seen in the wharehouse and we identified them as ours but he had left them behind because he wasnt sure if they belonged to us.
The driver verified to MCI that some of our items were still in the wharehouse and none of our items were in Relos packing boxes as they had claimed. The driver then asked us about our 12 foot orange step ladder and informed us that it had one of our stickers on it but it was being used by some other wharehouse workers. We have never received that ladder. MCI told us they would get the rest of our items sent out on the next truck and we should receive them in 2 or 3 days. We did not receive the rest of our items until over 30 later. The amount of items broken was big. Legs on most of our wood furniture were chuncked. The washer, dryer, and freezer had bent metal legs. The damage is absolutely unimaginable.

We have done everything they have asked us to do with filing a claim. We took pictures, filled out the forms, sent in the moving list twice now, got prices for damaged items, you name it. We have been denied. United States Van Lines tucked their tails and got out of it quick. Relo is saying they just transported our stuff from our house to a wharehouse in Colorado, and MCI doesnt think they have done anything wrong. We were overcharged for services not done, we have missing items ( I thought that was called theft in the US but have been told not if its a moving company), broken and marred furniture, and now have been denied because they dont feel we did everything they asked us to do. Well it seems to me they didnt do anything we hired them to do.  When I spent 30 dollars for all the pictures I had to take, the money I spent for faxing all the paperwork they needed, and for paying postage on the large envelope containing all this proof they requested, we are still denied.

Is there anyone out there who gets treated fair by these companies?

is anyone in these companies honest?

As my experiences continue. We received a settlement offer for all of our broken items of 550.00 but after one of the supervisors spoke with my husband he was authorized to offer us 750.00. We then received an email to sign with a notary n send it back to the company. At this point I was so sick of their constant run around that we signed the document n mailed it to them signature required. We received confirmation from the usps that they received n signed for it April 5. We heard nothing from them until we called n they informed us they mailed us a check on April 30th n for us to take into account it could take up to 7 days for it to make it to us. After 7 days we called back n was reassured it was mailed on the 30th but to wait up to 10 days. My husband called back last week to be rudely told that we misunderstood the check went to oked on April 30th n she said she had the check in front of her n it would be mailed out the next day n we should receive it in 3 to 4 days. It has now been a week n guess what no check. One of the things they want us to do in the settlement is stop posting negative stuff about them n post we received settlement in our case. So here I am still being ripped off by these companies. Like I said before if you hired me to do this bad of a job for you, you would have fired me. These companies have no interest in correcting their mistakes n they just keep lying every step of the way. Maybe its just time for the court of law. I was willing to take your ridiculous settlement amount to at least know I had a little bit of justice in this whole situation but you can't come through with anything. First you sent the worst packers ever to my home, then you kept my belongings well past the deadline, then you only brought part of my belongings, your employees stole from me for their own use, what wasn't stolen had mass amounts of damage, you overcharged me n didn't reimburse it, n now you won't even pay the amount you agreed to help out n I mean barely help out to replace the damaged items. I have proven the overcharges were trumped by the driver who delivered my belongings in pa from his own mouth to you on the phone standing in front of me, it was proven that my belongings were delivered late which you deducted nothing, it was proven through pictures n documents of all the broken items, there is nothing else left for me to prove. All you have proven is you ripped us off n don't right your wrongs. You just keep giving us the run around. Enough. No more.
