We obtained a maintenance proposal from Mowrey Elevator Company of Florida when we renovated our office building in 2004. Our rental agent signed a document with Mowrey  to update our elevator and provide a maintenance program for one year. Before the work was performed by Mowrey, the elevator worked just fine. In our opinion, Mowrey did not maintain the elevator properly, and as a consequence, we had extensive damage to our elevator. Afterwards, we were charged over $13000.00 by Mowrey to repair this damage. The elevator never worked as good as before. When the elevator was down for any reason, the repairman from Mowrey would take days to answer the service call and was always out of the part we needed for repair. This inferior service by Mowrey caused inconvenience to our tenants. Having been dissatisfied for several years with Mowrey's work, we fired Mowrey. Afterward, our company was notified by Mowrey that we owed them money because the document the rental agent signed contained an automatic renewal every five years. Our rental agent was unaware of this, in our opinion, tricky worded document and would never have signed it.  Even though their document was never agreed to by our corporate officers, Mowrey sued our corporation. The document stated our corporation owed Mowrey's attorney a legal fee. Mowrey's lawyer was an attorney named Mowrey. Also, the document stated that our company could be sued in Jackson County, Florida, where Mowrey Elevator is headquartered, which is about 227 miles from Jacksonville where our elevator is located. Eventually, to save costs we settled with Mowrey Elevator for about $1000.00 and had to pay our attorneys well over $2000.00 .   We could not recommend Mowrey Elevator to anyone.
