On 12/03/08, I contacted Brandon from New World Movers, of Hackensack, NJ. concerning the move of one-4' & one-2' jewelry case & endcap, from a local jewelry store in Cranford, NJ. I had called several area co's, and none were available for the upcoming weekend, or the job was too small. Brandon told me that they'd be able to complete the job for $140.00 on Sat. 12/06/08. I aslo inquired about storage for 2 months, which he said was available for $25.00. I agreed.

He then said he needed my credit card # to secure the date. I told him to fax me the form for authorization, along with the contract. He sent me the auth. document, along with several blank sheets of paper. I told him the contract didn't come through, he said he needed the c.c. # to put on it, & that by writting down our agreed terms and amount, that it would be okay. I'd get the copy of the contract.

(* Just a note for the record..I'm down in South Jersey, about 2 1/2 hrs. away, and I had 2 jewelry showcases & 2 endcaps moved from Egg Harbor Twp. to Cranford, & 1 showcase & 1 endcap brought back down to me, by a proffessional moving co. for $420.00)
The move was to occur on Sat. 12/06/08 between 1:00 & 3:00. They weren't there at that time.

I called the office, and the phone was forwarded to the driver. His name was Jose, he was very nice, he explained to me that the first job of the day took longer than expected, but they would be there by 4:00. At 4:30, he still was not there, I called again, he said they were stuck in traffic. He arrived at the store at 5:05pm. However, they were closed. He told me they would be able to return the next day on Sun. at 10:30. They never showed, or answered the phone.

On Monday, they finally moved the showcase & endcap. I found out from the jewelry store, because there was never an answer at New World Movers. I tried to call several times for my paperwork, and was told they would send it to me asap. I never received anything. On 12/18/08, I received an overdraft from my bank. My account had been debited $453.00 from New World Movers. I called again, Brandon, who was so nice in the beginning, was out on vacation. I demanded to speak with a supervisor.

That's when Adam Eliad got on the phone from his car, he said they all were leaving the city early due to a major snowstorm (which was true) & that he'd call me when they opened again. He then told me he remembered that the drivers had to wrap the case, and that was going to be extra! I told him that I never heard of bubble-wrap costing 313.00 for 4'.

I called & called, and I would either be hung-up on when I announced who I was, I left message after message, or there was never an answer. I have over 50 calls documented on my cell phone bill to them. They simply refuse to deal with their error.

I had immeadiatly put a dispute of the charge from them, with my bank, and was temporarly refunded the 313.00 overcharge. In the meantime, since all this had occured, I've had an additional headache with over 200.00 in overdraft fee's!

I thought all was well until yesterday, 02/03/09, I received another overdraft notice. I was debited another $453.00 from New World Movers again!! They claim, according to my bank, that they have proof that I signed papers authorizing them to do the move for that amount, WHICH IS ON OUTRIGHT LIE! And once again, I have 6 checks/debits that I'm being charged 36.00 each for. Thank god my bank is trying to work with me on this. The ironic thing is, I haven't had that much in my account since this all started, and only one day after I had $456.00, this was done again.

I'm changing my account, something I should have done in the first place. And today, I received in the mail, an invoice from them, for $119.00 per month, for the storage of the 1 case, & 1 endcap! Whatever happened to
25.00 per month?

I have filed a police report, filed a complaint with the BBB, and I'm currently speaking with an investigator from the Attorney General's Office, in the division of Consumer Affairs Dept.

It seems like standard practice for this company. I never heard of this website until yesterday. A friend suggested I check it out, and I wasen't surprised to see they had previous complaints against them.
