MTC truck driver training is a big rip-off. they want to charge you a lot of money for their course. they bait you up front and tell you have a contract but when all is said and done you have nothing. i went to school from jan 12, 2009 to feb 10, 2009, got my cdl, promised a job with Swift-never happened-always wait-wait,wait. It is now April and I still do not have a job. Only today I found out they will not even issue a certificate that I attended. MTC is not recognized by many trucking companies throughout the United States. I have applied to over 50+ with no results. MTC is a lying, deceitful school, especially the recruiters and owners. Only good about MTC is the trainers they have but that is it. In my class, there are several students that are still left high and dry with no job at all.

If you want a truck driving job . . .

AUTHOR: prairiefarmWI - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, April 11, 2010

Well your lucky you did not drive for swift, MTC did provide to me the job they said, but the trucking company was crap, left me sitting for days not working sleeping in a truck. The only thing good about swift was the mentor I had. But the company did not pay my student loans or nothing. At first I thought man gave up a job with 10 years at for this. But I have been working in the field just nothing they sent my way. I will give high prop's to a couple of instructors they did their part and then some for me. Office people with the exception of 1 were a*s's, But that flake doctor or excuse me Chiropractor was a moron wanted to throw him threw a window. I felt like I was in New York, The menue sucks I never ate there, I felt gas station food was better for me, living arrangements stunk as well stopped in IL and washed my closes before I went home because the stench was aweful. But I will say one thing positive about this school. It made me tough I know now being homeless is a better deal. The Jobs are out their but hit craigs list, I work for the fed gov driving a transporter, hauling car's trucks and SUV's all I did was answer a ad guy asked me to come in, I did he hired me. These companies make it tough on you because of who you went to school with. But my CDL is good I have a better job then they could have giving me, the company they signed me up with I left after 3 monthes because they sucked as a company. I got Divorced but not because of the school but my choices, Went on a search for a year and a half and got the job of my dreams. But people go to your local tech college if you want to be treated like crap and cattle then thats the school for you. It will make you tough, I will never forget or regret going there, but everyone is different. I got my name on that board. TOP DOG!!!!

What is your CDL class (A or B)? Have you thought about doing expediting? From what I am reading in your report you did receive a CDL? Now if you are interested in expediting, you can break into trucking with either a B or A CDL by going with a class B straight truck or a non-CDL truck. (Unfortunately, for a class A semi you would have to have a years driving experience to get on with an expedite company. There are some companys  that do not require experience with a straight truck.) Some companys that I know do not require experience is PantherII, and Express 1. You can also check with Tri-State (not sure but they might require 3 months experience), Nations Express, Landstar, Ceva, just to name a few. A very good place to get info on truck owners that are looking for drivers would be to go to expeditersonline.com. There you can find all the information you need to break into the industry. For owners looking for drivers click on the free classifieds.
Now some info on Expediting. In expediting if you are not a CDL holder you can drive what is called the cargo van or a C-unit. A C-unit travels all over the US and Canada (Canada is the drivers choice in all expediting, you do not have to go to Canada unless you want to. All Expediting is non-forced dispatch meaning you choose what loads you want to take, turn down loads you do not want to take.) A C -unit carries loads weighing from 1 pd to 3000 pd. A straight truck class b (or A) cdl is a d-unit, d-units carry 1 pd to 10,500 pds. A straight truck with tandems is a E-unit they carry 1 pd to 19,000 pds. My suggesting would be to go with a D or E unit. (the semi is the A-unit, a years experience is required.) Most expediters are stay out for 3 weeks and then home 4 to 7 days for off time.
My husband and I drive a D-Unit. Thanksgiving thru March 1st is our bad, or slow time. Our paycheck this past Friday after insurance deduction was 2135.05. That was for 2 people so we made 1067.52 each for the week. Week before last our paycheck after insurance deduction was 1536.95 or 768.47 each for this week. The week previous to this our check was 1434.93 or 717.65 each after insurance deduction this was a partial week.  Pay will vary by the miles you drive for the week given.
If you do decide to try expediting make sure you check out the truck owner you go with thru expeditersonline and ripoffreport to make sure you don't get hooked up with a bad owner who will steal from you. That is a big problem in the industry as all expediters are independent contractors they do not work for the company they are leased on to, drivers work for themselves and are leased onto a company thru a truck owner. There are a lot of wonderful truck and van owners that are very honest but there are some bad ones also so just make sure you check them out. If your willing to work hard and stay out you can make good money expediting. Just remember expediting is slow from Thanksgiving until March 1. This would be a good time to get leased on and learn the ropes before it starts getting busy in March. Good luck.

Class B cdl training mdc truck driver training

AUTHOR: Animal - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 27, 2009

I'm glad I checked here first. I want to get a class b cdl but don't know how to go about doing it and sure don't want to dump what little money I don't have into some kind of scam.

I notice that M.D.C. hasn't responded but they still have a web page boasting there wonderful services. Now that I know of this sight, I always check to see if there are complaints.

I'm in N.W. Arkansas and will continue to search for information.

Typical Truck Driver Training School Practice

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 16, 2009

The author's experience is the ages-old "bait and hook" method used by truck driver training schools. A student is told there is a shortage of truck drivers nationwide due to the hours of service changes, retirements, etc., and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of truck driving jobs available (the bait) and a perspective student "would be perfect for the job and we can guarantee your employment" (the hook).

What the student is not told is that Sxxx has there own school/training and they don't always need drivers and that many graduate students don't stay at Sxxx very long due to their reputation as a 'starter job' company. And, by the way, are under investigation by the FBI in Memphis for providing CDL A licenses fraudulently.

The other critical information a perspective student is not given is that at least currently, not a lot of freight is being moved as a result of the depressed economy; this is the reason why there are less jobs available than what the student is told.
