Multi State Insurance Services, Inc. Unreasonably expensive auto insurance, with outrageous fees if you decide to leave them, very poor customer service. Santa Clarita California

I had a policy with Multi State Insurance Services, Inc. for 10 days, and then cancelled it because I found a more competitive rate. From the initial payment of $160.87 (another $100 went to the broker who sold me this policy, but that's a separate complaint) I received a refund in the amount of $3.07. Talk about rip off. They charged me $50 policy fee - it is supposed to be included in the yearly premium amount, so if you wanted to keep some of it, that would be $50/365 days=0.13/day x 10 days = $1.36 total charge for policy fee. There was also cancellation fee of $44 - completely unreasonable and out of proportion for a policy that has been serviced for 10 days only.

What other fees they charged I don't even know, but obviously they came up with something. The bottom line here is that this company not only doesn't have competitive rates, but it also rips people off in a really bad way if you decide to leave them. Calling customer service does not work the way it was designed, as they put you on hold for a very long time or just disconnect the call if you choose "billing issues." Multi State employs those predatory practices that insurance companies got their bad reputation for. I hope they won't stay in business much longer.
