I was charged $1.95 on my credit card on 28 October 2003 to MWI Homeworks Plus, 877-499-7646 CT.

Not being familiar with this company, I was set to investigate until I noticed the next entry on 29 October 2003: -$1.95, MWI Homeworks Plus, 877-499-7646 CT.

This morning I found another charge on the same card on 26 November 2003: $149.95 to MWI Homeworks Plus, 877-499-7646 CT.
Unfortunately this time there was no deletion the following day!

I called the number, and after a lot of pressing 1, 2, and so forth, talked to Tasha #9151, who acted sweet and sympathetic but persisted in trying to get me to "stick with" a program that I hadn't signed up for that would give me 40% off at some nationally known stores.

I said "NO" repeatedly and asked to speak with her manager. She gave me her supervisor, Tina #1416, who said I would be given a refund within 7 to 10 days.

Realizing that the refund might be for the wrong amount (less) I asked her how much the reimbursement would be, and she said $149.95.

So now I wait. We shall see. If I am not reimbursed I would like to participate in a class action lawsuit. These people must be stopped -- and they are asking for it if they mess with me again!

MWI Homeworks Plus Surprise, Surprise

AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 08, 2003

On 12/04/03 I posted my MWI Homeworks Plus 149.95 Ripoff Report.

On 12/05/03 the 149.95 was posted as having been deducted from my credit card statement.

That's great -- I could't be more pleased. However, the cynic in me won't rest, since this insidious activity obviously continues out there.

I can't help wondering whether my credit card company might have been generating this evil, because:

Some time ago, the credit card company tried to get me to sign away my attorney rights should some dispute arise, replacing the attorney with a mediator.

I wouldn't budge.

Since then I have been barraged with offers for more, bigger, better cards from this same company.

I know all this probably does not differ from the experiences of many of you reading this, but

I suspect that my fraudulent charge from MWI Homeworks Plus might be another phase in the credit card company's attempt to get me to throw my hands up in disgust, telling them to cancel this card and send me another -- which would just happen to have a mediator, not a lawyer, waiting in the wings.

As if I didn't have enough to worry about already...

What next?
